Job Description:

An excellent opportunity is available for a HME Maintenance Manager accountable for the mobile engineering and maintenance programmes at the mine site and responsible for ensuring that all such work is conducted in a safe and environmentally acceptable manner whilst minimising the impact on production and ensuring compliance with the company's standards and statutory obligations.

The Company
Globe 24-7 in partnership with our International Gold Mining client, is working together to source experienced and qualified talent for their existing gold mining operations in West Africa. Our client has selected Globe 24-7 as a recruitment partner to successfully source the position of HME Manager to add value to the wider recruitment strategy with market knowledge, trends and a track record in conducting similar searches.

The Role

  • Provide engineering support and manage engineering projects for all mobile equipment;

  • Advise on equipment selection, supply and services agreements from a maintenance perspective;

  • Liaise with suppliers regarding the specifications of parts and component requirements;

  • Ensure an optimized spare parts catalogue is maintained in the mine warehouse;

  • Provide the scope of outsource work within the HME Maintenance section;

  • Liaise with consultants and specialists to ensure relevant technology is employed;

  • Continually revise equipment maintenance strategies to ensure optimum equipment performance and cost;

  • Ensure compliance with all statutory equipment inspections such as Classified Plant, Fire Suppression systems, Fire Extinguishers, Exhaust Emissions, Wheel Rims, etc.;

  • Ensure tyre and rim management complies with the company Standards;

  • Promote the correct use of equipment on site;

  • Initiate actions to prevent the occurrence of equipment non-conformance, identify and record any equipment quality problems. Initiate, recommend, or provide solutions through designated channels. Verify the implementation of solutions, control further non-conforming equipment until the deficiency or unsatisfactory condition has been corrected;

  • Oversee all parts requisitioning, disposal of unusable parts and classification of reclaimable and reusable parts in relation to repairs.

The Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent combination of trade training and experience on mobile plant equipment.

  • Ten-year experience on Supervisory/ management level within a heavy-duty maintenance surface mining work environment;

  • Five-year experience with a Komatsu fleet and further experience with Caterpillar, Sandvik and Atlas Copco equipment;

  • Proven experience in compiling and management of maintenance budgets;

  • Strong project management and planning skills in a mining environment;

  • Demonstrated knowledge of budget and cost control in a mining environment;

  • Significant experience in managing contract maintenance work teams and specialist maintenance service providers;

  • French language skills

  • High communication skills (verbal & written) being able to confidently present to internal and external stakeholders;

  • Experience within the mining sector in Africa

  • Working experience with Microsoft Excel & Word, and CMMS systems;

  • Able to communicate effectively at all levels of the organisation and build effective relationships and networks;

  • Possesses strong training and mentoring skills with the ability to develop an effective team;

  • Demonstrates strong conceptual skills, and be capable of developing lateral and practical solutions;

  • Ability to respond to a changing work environment;

  • The ability to manage multiple projects and tasks at the same time;

  • A reputation for integrity and ethics;

  • Demonstrated supervision skills.

The Rewards
The position offers a competitive remuneration package and is available on a Rotational Basis - FIFO 62 weeks.
