Job Description:

A suitable position is available for a Fixed Asset Maintenance Manager, reporting to the Plant Manager, responsible for optimal plant availability and reliability.

The Company
Globe 24-7 in partnership with our International Gold Mining client, is working together to source experienced and qualified talent for their existing gold mining operations in West Africa. Our client has selected Globe 24-7 as a recruitment partner to successfully source the position of Fixed Asset Maintenance Manager to add value to the wider recruitment strategy with market knowledge, trends and a track record in conducting similar searches.

The Role



  • Lead the Maintenance Team to ensure the optimum performance and reliability of plant equipment as well as other fixed site equipment.

  • Ensure work is done in accordance with the company's safety and environmental guidelines.

  • Monitor maintenance trends and expenditure.

  • Effective use of the Computerised Maintenance Management System to report maintenance activity on the processing plant.

  • Coordinate the continuous improvement of maintenance planning and preventative maintenance programs

  • Monitor and report on the impact of maintenance on cost per ton.

  • Develop long-term maintenance as well as preventative maintenance plans.

  • Manage the processing facility as well as inventory.

  • Work with the Engineering Manager to establish a plant maintenance operating budget.

  • Plan, approve and monitor the plant maintenance expenditure.

  • Ensure critical spare parts are held in the warehouse

  • Provide direct management, mentoring and effective leadership to the site's Mechanical, Electrical and Instrumentation Maintenance team consisting of maintenance foreman, technicians and contractors, ensuring that team members receive training, support and resources to work effectively and safely.

  • Monitor and evaluate the performance of the team to identify areas requiring improvement and implement training and coaching measures to ensure employees receive sufficient training enabling them to perform their duties in a safe and efficient manner.

  • Promote and develop the skills of subordinates through the transfer of technology and skill development through on-the-job training programs.

  • Conduct formal career development discussions with employees and identify development opportunities and programs that assist with defining future career progression possibilities.

  • Encourage and facilitate effective and supportive communication between all team members and related departments



The Requirements



  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or an equivalent combination of trade training and experience on Fixed Asset maintenance.

  • Minimum of 10 years' experience in gold plant maintenance.

  • At least 3 years in a leadership role.

  • Experience in computerised maintenance systems.

  • Strong project management and planning skills in a mining environment.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of budget and cost control in a mining environment.

  • Significant experience in managing contract maintenance work teams and specialist maintenance service providers.

  • French language skills

  • High communication skills (verbal & written) being able to confidently present to internal and external stakeholders

  • Experience within the mining sector in Africa

  • Working experience with Microsoft Excel & Word

  • Able to communicate effectively at all levels of the organisation and build effective relationships and networks

  • Possesses strong training and mentoring skills with the ability to develop an effective team

  • Demonstrates strong conceptual skills, and be capable of developing lateral and practical solutions

  • Ability to respond to a changing work environment

  • The ability to manage multiple projects and tasks at the same time

  • A reputation for integrity and ethics



The Rewards
The position offers a competitive remuneration package and is available on a Rotational Basis - FIFO 6/2 weeks.
