Job Description:

Ambatovy, a Sherritt International Nickel & Cobalt operation in Madagascar, is currently looking for an experienced Mobile Operations Superintendent to be responsible for managing all the aspects of Ambatovy's operating industrial mobile equipment.

The Role

Responsibilities will include:

  • Health, Safety, Environment and Quality (HSEQ) leader:

  • Be aware, understand, communicate and comply with the Ambatovy Health, Safety, Environment and Quality Policies and associated documentation

  • Be aware and comply with relevant Health, Safety, Environment and Quality legal and other requirements

  • Understand the Health, Safety, Environment and Quality risks relevant to your area of responsibility and ensure the use of the Ambatovy risk framework for their management

  • Support the business plan process, and ensure it aligns with the intent of the Health, Safety, Environment and Quality Policies and associated Objectives, as well as ensure it addresses all significant Health, Safety, Environment and Quality aspects of your area of responsibility

  • Ensure budgets provide for adequate resourcing to enable Health, Safety, Environment and Quality accountability

  • Participate in audits and inspections, as well as support the management of non-conformances, incident and actions as required

  • Drive implementation of agreed Health, Safety, Environment and Quality improvement initiatives

  • Provide direction in an emergency

  • General environmental duty not to carry out any activity that causes or is likely to cause environmental harm

  • General duty of care to self and others

  • Hold team members accountable to compliance with Ambatovy Health, Safety, Environment and Quality policies, rules and requirements

  • Coach team members to better performance of required Health, Safety, Environment and Quality tasks

  • Continued support of the Ambatovy safety culture

  • Overall work management performance for the department, through established performance KPIs

  • Implementation of world standards in equipment productivity management processes

  • Optimization, continuous improvement of contractors and cost management program and foster an excellent working environment

  • Developing succession plans and training plans and promoting the development of nationals through the organization as the organization continues to mature

  • Budget management and cost control of his group

The Requirements

  • Mobile Maintenance Technician or equivalent trade

  • Lifting and rigging qualification is an advantage

  • Mobile equipment Health, Safety, Environment and Quality qualifications

  • 8 to 15 years of experience in a similar role

  • Good experience in lifting and rigging

  • Knowledge of Fleet management best practices

  • Experience in a developing country

  • Strong oral and written communication skills

  • Strong leadership and coaching skills
