A fantastic Career Step with mid-tier multinational Gold Producer, OceanaGold Corporation is available for an experienced Group Mining Engineer to be based in Brisbane, Australia.

The Company

Globe 24-7 in partnership with OceanaGold, is working together to source experienced and qualified talent for their Technical Office in Brisbane. OceanaGold Corporation is a mid-tier, low-cost, multinational gold producer with assets located in the Philippines, New Zealand and the United States.

The Role

Reporting to the General Manager Studies the role will have responsibility to:

  • Provide technical advice on underground and open pit mining at all levels within OceanaGold, including executive, project and operational management.

  • Lead mining engineering teams within feasibility studies and other project work.

  • Actively pursue improvement opportunities in all mining related areas, including reserve estimation, mine planning and scheduling, geotechnical analysis and ground support, mining method selection, mine design, construction, operations and maintenance, cost efficiency and safety and environmental performance.

  • Undertake external and internal benchmarking and identify opportunities to introduce best practices and to OceanaGold and ensure process optimisation.

  • Prepare and present budgets and forecasts, and report against these.

  • Direct and review design work to incorporate best practices in mining.

  • Certify mining engineering project work under relevant codes as required.

  • Participate in OGC's technical review program, to cover underground mining.

  • Provide mining focused support to business development initiatives, including fatal flaw reviews of early stage projects and detailed due diligence and valuation exercises on advanced projects or in-operation mines.

  • Contribute to the development, implementation and adherence of all of OGC policies, procedures and systems with regard to mining practices.

  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory law and company standards and requirements.

  • Pursue high standards in safety performance and demonstrate commitment to safety in personal behaviour and provide Safety Leadership.

The Requirements

  • A degree in Mining Engineering or a related discipline.

  • A master's degree (mining or management) and Manager's Certificate of Competency will be beneficial.

  • Membership of AusIMM and professional accreditation.

  • At least 12 years' postgraduate experience on senior levels, leading mine expansions or new project studies.

  • Motivated self-starter with good analytical, problem solving, planning and decision-making skills.

  • Dynamic team player and leader with strong interpersonal skills to naturally develop and maintain strong relations.
