Primary responsibilities include daily/monthly/quarterly activities associated with FCX’s derivative and environmental accounting, and financial assurance and debt compliance reporting. Activities include (but are not limited to) reconciliation and analysis, preparation of journal entries and internal management reports, and assisting with the preparation of disclosures for FCX’s Form 10-K/Q filings.

  • Derivative Accounting: Reconcile daily broker statements to internal records to verify margin settlements, maintain internal records and prepare weekly schedules and reconciliations to ensure accuracy of trade related information.
  • Monthly: Complete assigned duties as part of the monthly accounting close process primarily as it relates to derivative and environmental accounting, including the preparation of journal entries, account reconciliations/roll-forwards, and forecasts. Also, prepare internal management reports for inclusion in FCX’s monthly accounting package.
  • Quarterly/Annual Reporting: Assist in the preparation of quarterly environmental and asset retirement obligation reports for management. Prepare quarterly/annual environmental related schedules. Assist in preparing support schedules for footnotes, MD&A or disclosures included in FCX’s quarterly/annual filings.
  • Quarterly Financial Assurance & Debt Compliance: Assist in the preparation of regulatory financial assurance compliance schedules on a quarterly/annual basis; prepare ad hoc regulatory filings as needed. Prepare quarterly regulatory financial assurance and bank compliance schedules related to FCX’s debt covenants.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Four (4) years of work experience that includes general Accounting and Bookkeeping concepts
  • Proficiency in computer navigation with experience in Excel
  • Process oriented with strong attention to detail and organization
  • Ability to handle multiple assignments effectively and efficiently in a face-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Ability to work independently with supervision
