Job Description:

Ambatovy Joint Venture operation in Madagascar, is recruiting a well experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer who will be responsible for providing mechanical technical assistance to multi-disciplinary teams in Technical Services, Operations and Plant Services.

The Role


The Senior Mechanical Engineer will be accountable to lead and provide mechanical engineering services, including operational support, failure analysis and project management skills support plant reliability and improvements.


Responsibilities



  • Be aware of, understand and comply with the Ambatovy Health, Safety, Environment and Quality (HSEQ) Policies and associated documentation.

  • Provide technical leadership and be a resource in analysing day to day problems, trouble-shooting of issues, liaising with manufacturer or technical expertise to understand and improve reliability issues that affect plant operations.

  • As necessary, use techniques such as FMEA for development and prioritization of inspections and maintenance schedules for critical equipment.

  • Drive defect elimination initiatives.

  • Apply Preventive Maintenance Optimization methodology as needed to audit and rationalize preventive maintenance activities for fixed equipment.

  • Work with engineering to ensure that new designs incorporate features that consider equipment reliability and maintainability best practices and meet all the prevailing industry and corporate Standards and Guidelines.

  • Work closely with operations, maintenance and engineering to identify, initiate, and implement improvements that will contribute to the cost effectiveness, stability, availability and reliability of the Plant equipment.

  • Coordinate inter-disciplinary reviews for improvements projects.

  • Assist in performing cost estimates and economic evaluations on capital and non-capital projects, as well as on business issues.

  • Prepare and/or review scope of work and all necessary supporting documents for projects.

  • Ensure all documents related to Management of Change, environment, production capacity and operation stability, reliability are managed in a timely and cost-effective manner.


The Requirements



  • A Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering.

  • 10-15 years of experience in maintenance & equipment reliability.

  • Strong technical background in mechanical engineering disciplines, including heat transfer, fluid dynamics, rotating equipment, piping design and pressure systems.

  • Experienced in maintenance and operations in high pressure hydrometallurgical or petroleum /petrochemical plants.

  • Demonstrated track record of plant improvement, reliability improvement and de-bottlenecking project execution.

  • Training and developing subordinates to assume positions of greater responsibility in the organization.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a focus on Functional Cultural awareness.

  • Language skills: English is essential. French is highly advantageous.

  • Proficient with computer applications including all Microsoft Office products and specialised packages.
