We have an excellent opportunity for an experienced Supply Chain Manager with demonstrated capabilities to manage and set up a new Supply Chain department.

The Company

Globe 24-7 in partnership with our International Gold Mining client is working together to source experienced and qualified talent for their existing gold mining operation in West Africa.

Our Client has selected Globe 24-7 as a recruitment partner to successfully source the position of Supply Chain Manager and add value to the wider recruitment strategy with market knowledge, trends and a previous track record in conducting similar searches.

The Position

Based in West Africa the role will report to the Site General Manager. The Supply Chain Manager will set up a supply chain system for a new process plant, set up catalogue, warehouse, spares and reagents orders to support the commencement of operations.

The Responsibilities

  • Develop, lead and execute procurement strategies

  • Bring all construction spares into stock

  • Set up new warehouse facilities

  • Set up all purchasing, logistics, warehouse and stock control procedures

  • Develop supply contracts

  • Train and develop team members

  • Prepare and manage the Supply Chain budget

  • Responsible for overall Supply Chain safety adherence based on ZERO tolerance

  • Seek and partner with reliable vendors and suppliers

  • Develop analytics, systems and data management capabilities, including metrics and reports

  • Direct the hiring, training, supervision, mentoring, and performance evaluations of Supply Chain staff

  • Manage / coordinate the planning process for supply / demand forecasting, inventory management, and on time delivery

  • Participate in the development of the Supply Chain strategy

  • Identify and manage risk within the Supply Chain

  • Direct and manage asset preservation to ensure proper life-cycle usage of assets

The Requirements

  • Experience in setting up new site would be well regarded

  • BS degree in Supply Chain management, logistics or business administration or similar tertiary qualification.

  • 15 years minimum experience in Supply Chain, Logistics and Procurement within the mining environment

  • Excellent planning, organisation skill, with demonstrated ability to manage multiple responsibilities and the self-discipline to achieve tasks on time with minimal or no supervision

  • Knowledge and experience in recognised ERP systems

  • Fluent in English and abilities in French would be desirable

  • Negotiation and networking skills

  • Strong leadership capabilities
