Job Description:

Ambatovy Joint Venture operation in Madagascar, is recruiting a HPAL Production Coordinator to lead various operations related tasks that ensures the continuity of a safe and efficient operation throughout the PAL area.

The Role


The HPAL Production Coordinator works directly with all levels of operators and supervisors to teach them how to fulfil the responsibilities of their roles within their assigned area in PAL.


The Responsibilities



  • Proactively managing plant issues as they arise

  • Overview of field operations and provide guidance to supervisors and keeps PAL management updated

  • Ensuring Health, Safety and Environmental policies and procedures are adhered to and incidents are attended to and managed in a timely manner

  • Ensuring that production targets are met, with any issues to the safety of the people and plant and/or delays to production schedule being escalated

  • Ensuring plant and production priorities, operating strategies and targets are understood by the supervisors and lead operators

  • Assist technical and engineering staff in programs for ongoing improvement of plant performance and equipment reliability and cost reduction

  • Ensuring shift supervisors and their operations personnel receive the coaching and mentoring to safely and efficiently operate the plant

  • Carry out competency evaluations of operators in the progression program

  • Report monthly on HS&E KPI progress for the Operations Group

  • Report on the number of Standard Operating Procedures and Isolation Lists reviewed in a month

  • Attend and participate in the Maintenance Priorities Meeting to provide operational priorities on equipment availability and requirements regarding maintenance activities

  • Attending design review and risk assessment meetings to provide field knowledge and opinions on identified issues


The Requirements



  • Advanced knowledge of mineral processing methods, equipment and performance expectations

  • A secondary level education, with relevant industry qualifications

  • At least 10 years field, control room and supervisory experience in nickel HPAL operations or similar

  • Appropriate technical qualifications and experience in a similar plant / industry

  • Experienced in writing and reviewing procedures and policies

  • A strong understanding and commitment to Environment, Health and Safety systems and practices

  • A diverse operational background with a strong knowledge on the operation of various types of equipment and processes

  • Experienced in training and developing National staff

  • Fluent in English and French or Malagasy is desirable
