Under general supervision, identifies, reports and recommends corrective action for a wide variety of workplace environmental factors that may adversely impact employee safety, health and productivity at assigned site.
  • Oversee or collect air, water, vapors, gases and dust samples or other potentially toxic materials for analysis; analyze information of considerable difficulty and draw conclusions
  • Conduct detailed exposure assessments, analyses of operational procedures, facility design, equipment and materials, audits, and incident investigations
  • Develop and recommend appropriate controls for occupational health hazards
  • Collaborate with site management to ensure compliance with Freeport-McMoRan, OSHA, MSHA and other regulations and standards
  • Maintain a current knowledge of Freeport-McMoRan, OSHA, MSHA and other regulations and standards
  • May oversee and direct the efforts of project staff on assigned projects
  • Prepare appropriate reports and presentations for management
  • Communicate effectively in one-on-one and group situations, both verbally and in writing
  • Serve as technical expert in chemical analysis, equipment and processes
  • Perform sampling and chemical analysis and maintain inspection records
  • Answer questions and develop procedures based on regulatory and other data driven information
  • Perform other duties as required

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Hygiene, or closely related Scientific or Technical discipline and four (4) years of experience as an Industrial Hygienist or in a related discipline, OR
  • Master's degree in Industrial Hygiene, or closely related Scientific or Technical discipline and two (2) years of experience as an Industrial Hygienist or in a related discipline
