Job Description:

Ambatovy Joint Venture operation in Madagascar, is recruiting an experienced SCM Operations Manager to be responsible for all activities related to logistics, inventory control and planning, and warehousing.

The Role

The SCM Operations Manager will guide, lead and manage the Supply Chain Department at Ambatovy.


  • Ensure Operational Excellence within Department by:

    • Develop the SCM Operations 5-year strategic plan for each key function with a view to continuously optimise inbound and outbound operations and identify adequate tactical yearly plans

    • Manage local and international supply chain network including local customs, imports and exports.

    • Effectively maintaining relationships and credibility with suppliers, customers and stakeholders

    • Drive alignment of inventory and warehousing operations between the Mine and the Plant site

    • Secure supplies and stockholding by understanding and considering remote site conditions with a longer supply chain and long lead times

    • Build In-country Infrastructure and develop Local capability creating a high-performance team, supporting the development of leadership capability and fostering effective internal communication within the team

    • Ensure there is a transfer of knowledge to the National workforce for them to continuously develop into more senior roles

  • Drive performance metrics with a view to delivering operational efficiencies and reducing costs

  • Implement an effective solid waste management strategy

  • Ensure transparency in all department transactions with outside businesses

  • Support the business plan process, and ensure budgets align with the intent of the HSE Policies and associated objectives, as well as ensure it addresses all significant HSE aspects of department mandate

  • Ensure implementation and compliance with all SHEQ systems, policies and procedures

The Requirements

  • University degree in Engineering, Business Administration and a master's degree in SCM will be advantageous

  • Minimum 15 years of experience within SCM Operations with proven knowledge and experience in supply chain processes

  • Experience in managing:

    • high value holding stock in warehouses

    • multiple warehouses in multiple locations

    • multiple team in multiple locations

  • Multi-cultural exposure with International remote site experience

  • Mining and/or large refinery experience

  • Project Management skills

  • Negotiation skills

  • Target Driven

  • Ability to implement continuous Improvement projects with Six sigma skills an advantage

  • Collaborative approach and effective Team player and leader

  • Customer Service Approach

  • High levels of integrity
