Freeport-McMoRan is a premier U.S.-based natural resources company with an industry leading global portfolio of mineral assets.

 

Freeport-McMoRan’s internship program is tailored to students and recent graduates with mining-related degrees.  Internships typically run mid-May thru mid-August as well as the fall and spring semesters.  Our intern program has been referred to as one of the top programs in the mining industry.  By providing structure and access to top minds and technology in mining today, our internship will provide you the skills and experience to help prepare you for a successful career.

 

Under general supervision, performs MIS related duties assigned per department. As such responsibilities are carried out; unscheduled and scheduled overtime may be required. Also may be required to work outside of normal working hours.

 

This MIS internship will be located at our Phoenix Corporate Office in downtown Phoenix, Arizona. Below are samples of summer projects that interns will be assigned:

 

Business Analyst Tasks Include:

  • Meet with business to evaluate their business and technical needs, define scope and document business requirements
  • Research internal and external solutions
  • Conduct user acceptance testing and document findings
  • Create end-user and training documentation

Security Analyst Tasks Include:

  • Document and maintain perimeter risk assessment
  • Document and maintain network device hardening process
  • Create and conduct security awareness training
  • Manage security vulnerability management assessment

End User Analyst Tasks Include:

  • Document and execute Group Policy Objects (GPO) cleanup
  • Analyze requirements and build SCCM license compliance dashboards
  • SCCM PXE image and task sequence testing
  • Creation or revision of operational and troubleshooting run books

Business Intelligence Analyst Tasks Include:

  • Analyze and document business requirements 
  • Write queries and perform data analysis
  • Design and develop, enhance or fix reports and dashboards
  • Work with users to adopt solutions

Big Data Analyst Tasks Include:

  • Analyze business requirements and develop appropriate analytical approaches
  • Write queries/scripts and perform data and statistical analyses
  • Develop and enhance reports and presentations
  • Work with business partners to adopt solutions

Custom Development Analyst Tasks Include:

  • Understands SOA design patterns, specifically with micro-services
  • Experience writing .NET code; C# specifically, JavaScript and SQL
  • An interest in UX/UI design
  • Understands cloud platforms

Minimum Qualifications

  • Full-time student currently enrolled at an accredited four-year university majoring in an appropriate MIS or Computer Technology discipline or closely related field; OR
  • Recent college graduate having graduated within 12 months prior to internship start date with a degree in MIS, or Computer Technology or closely related field
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Possesses strong data analysis and problem solving skills
  • Highly accurate and detail oriented
  • Possesses strong oral and written communication skills
  • Demonstrates initiative, organizational skills and ability to work well under pressure
  • Demonstrates ability to collaborate and work effectively in a team environment
