Job Description:

Ambatovy, a Sherritt International Nickel & Cobalt operation in Madagascar, is currently searching for a Port and Rail Operations Superintendent to lead and coordinate all functions within the port and rail department to ensure that all activities are completed in a detailed specific timeline whilst maintaining company core values.

The Role


The Port and Rail Operations Superintendent will interact at a Senior level with SPAT Port Authority, Maintenance, HR, Health and Safety and Finance departments daily.


Responsibilities:



  • Be aware, understand, communicate and comply with the Ambatovy Health, Safety, Environment and Quality (HSEQ) Policies and associated documentation.

  • Develop and execute on a 1-3 year operational, maintenance and Capex budget.

  • Identify operational or design deficiencies and implements change to avoid or exceed production targets.

  • Ensure that the development, review and training of emergency/evacuation procedures are fully understood.

  • Review and execute shutdown plan timing as required.

  • Shipment schedules to be uploaded at the Port (Coal, Limestone, Ammonia, Sulphur).

  • Provide regular communications and updates to the SPAT Port Captain.

  • Approve maintenance expenditures, all contractor requirements for the port and rail facilities.

  • Conflict resolution management between SPAT and Madagascar Rail.


The Requirements



  • Relevant Business Operations Degree in Logistics or Supply Chain.

  • Previous experience as a Manager of a recognized port operation and logistics, with a proven track record of implementing maintenance reliability strategies.

  • More than 10 years of applicable operations experience in a bulk materials minerals processing environment.

  • Ability to read P&ID's, piping specifications and engineering documents.

  • Training and developing subordinates to assume positions of greater responsibility in the organization.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a focus on Functional Cultural awareness.

  • Language skills: English is essential. French is highly advantageous.

  • Computer proficiency in CMMS is required for process data analysis and troubleshooting.
