Job Description:

Ambatovy Joint Venture operation in Madagascar, is recruiting a well experienced Shutdown Superintendent who will be directly responsible for coordinating all shutdown activities across all plant areas.

The Role


The Shutdown Superintendent is responsible for the planing, directing and organizing the maintenance, project, engineering and operational resources to complete planned shutdown activities while aligning to other operational requirements from PAL, Refinery & Utilities operational areas.


Responsibilities



  • Be aware of, understand and comply with the Ambatovy Health, Safety, Environment and Quality (HSEQ) Policies and associated documentation.

  • Daily production reporting on key process metrics are reviewed and deviations understood. Containment plans are created, implemented and risks mitigated accordingly.

  • Initiate and implement shutdown improvement plans to increase overall shutdown execution capacity.

  • Support the Coordination of Shutdown specific contractors.

  • Lead the development of 5/10yr annual shutdown plans, capital improvements and a live version of the shutdown risk mitigations plans.

  • Review daily shutdown performance and seek opportunities to complete opportune works or reduce overall schedule.

  • Manage costs and implement cost reduction and efficiency improvement projects.

  • Develop, manage and report on budgets.


The Requirements



  • Mechanical Engineering Degree or similar.

  • Minimum 15 yrs experience in a process plant, including Shutdown and Project Management experience.

  • High Pressure Acid Leach / Autoclave industry experience is required.

  • Extensive industrial maintenance experience along with reliability practices.

  • Computer Literacy including: MS Office, BAAN, MOC, Maintenance Planning/Scheduling & Execution Technics etc, and specialised packages such as statistical software for data analysis.

  • Experience should include the following:

    • Shutdown management processes and with improvements in an integrated industrial facility.

    • Familiarity with mechanical equipment, piping and maintenance best practices.



  • Training and developing subordinates to assume positions of greater responsibility in the organization.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a focus on Functional Cultural awareness.

  • Language skills: English is essential. French is highly advantageous.
