Job Description:

Ambatovy Joint Venture operation in Madagascar, is recruiting a well experienced Senior Control Systems Engineer to join their team and assume responsibility for overall processing site control systems maintenance and development.

The Role


The Senior Control Systems Engineer will support the maintenance and development of the control systems for Ambatovy's processing facilities, all within a structured methodology to contribute to the safe and optimum operation of the plant.


Responsibilities



  • Be aware, understand, communicate and comply with the Ambatovy Health, Safety, Environment and Quality (HSEQ) Policies and associated documentation.

  • Assist in the execution of the day-to-day Systems Controls maintenance troubleshooting activities in conjunction with the instrumentation and electrical contractors.

  • Assist Senior Control Engineer in training National System Controls Specialists.

  • Assist Operations Personnel on the troubleshooting of process issues

  • Development and implementation of new control strategies including but not limited to I/O assignment, interlock description and control narratives development, DCS configuration, loop checks, loop tuning, Profibus DP and industrial Ethernet communication configuration.

  • The specialist will verify DCS graphics, interlocks and control strategies, troubleshooting and implementing modifications as required to ensure the work is completed as per specification and drawings, and that the requirements of engineering queries are incorporated, and that the engineering documentation is kept up to date.

  • Ensure work is carried out safely and efficiently in a competent manner and that they adhere to the Permit to Work System and Management of Change System


The Requirements



  • Minimum Diploma in Instrumentation Technology, Electrical Technology or equivalent

  • Minimum of 5 years experience in in heavy industry setting (can be pulp & paper, petrochemical, refinery or mineral processing plants).

  • Essential experience:

    • Siemens PCS7

    • Siemens PLC



  • Experience working with industrial networks such as Profibus DP and Modbus

  • Knowledgeable of Maintenance Engineering practices including Management of Change

  • Previous and sustained instrumentation and control commissioning/site experience

  • Language skills: English is essential. French is highly advantageous.
