Job Description:

Globe 24-7, in partnership with an important Canadian gold mine, is looking for an Instrumentation Electrical Supervisor, working in a residential role 5 days a week, in Northern Ontario.


The Company


The company is middle size mine gold producer located in Northern Ontario and is committed to delivering low-cost production, advancing its exploration and development pipeline, and maintaining a large resource and reserve base of quality assets to foster future production growth. Mining is primarily conducted using long hole stoping. Ore is processed at the Mill, located on site. The is capable of processing 3,000 tpd.


The Role
This Instrumentation Electrical Supervisor will assist the mill and his main responsibility is to measure and control instrumentation. He is also in charge to provide a correct service plant process control, monitoring, safety and communications systems. The role has the aim to ensure the stable operation and expansion of the Mill PLC network. This includes planning, developing, installing, configuring, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing PLC hardware and HMI programs. This role will also provide end user training where required.


The Responsibilities



  • Supervise the work of Lead Electrician, Instrumentation Technicians, Apprentices, Summer Students, and Contractors.

  • Consulting diagrams and technical documentation such as schematics, manuals, standards and codes.

  • Maintaining backup and revision documentation for control systems and instrumentation.

  • Installing, configuring, calibrating and maintaining control, measurement and indicating instrumentation (pneumatic, analog & digital).

  • Configuring and programming Programmable Logic Controls (PLC) and Programmable Automation Controllers (PAC).

  • Installing and terminating electrical, pneumatic and fluid connections.

  • Inspecting and testing the operation of instruments and systems to diagnose faults.

  • Removing, repairing, adjusting and replacing components.

  • Calibrating components and systems.

  • Maintaining various computer-based control systems.

  • Performing scheduled maintenance programs.



  • Establish service level agreements (SLA's) with end users.

  • Installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of Industrial Control Systems (ICS) in Mill.

  • Maintaining and/or improving instruments that include transmitters, analyzers, sensors, detectors, signal conditioners, recorders, controllers and final control elements.

  • Running of electrical, instrumentation and communication cabling in Mill.

  • Set up and operate test equipment to evaluate performance of developmental parts, assemblies, or systems under simulated operating conditions, and record results.


The Requirements



  • 10 years of Supervision of Trades People

  • Interest in electronics and associated technologies

  • Capacity to problem solve, test, measure and assess

  • Must attend worksite Fit for Duty and safe for all scheduled shifts

  • Lifting and transporting of heavy to moderately heavy objects, such as boards, peripherals etc. (up to 20kgs)

  • The instrumentation technician may work in hazardous environments where they may be exposed to confined spaces, heights, noise, dust, cold and heat. There may also be risks working with chemicals, gases, radiation, laser equipment and substances under pressure.

  • Instrumentation Technician - Red Seal & Electrician - Red Seal

  • Coursework in Computer Science, Programming and/or Networking or equivalent work experience.

  • Strong knowledge of PLC and other logic systems

  • CAD experience for documentation of process flow

  • Strong customer service and troubleshooting skills.

  • Willingness to relocate to Kirkland Lake or Timmins
