Ambatovy Joint Venture operation in Madagascar, are recruiting a well experienced Superintendent, Process Training to ensure effective competency training and development for Operations employees within the Refinery, PAL, Utilities and Ore Preparation Plant Areas within the context of the Ambatovy integrated training framework.

The Role

The Superintendent, Process Training will provide leadership, skills training, coaching and support for the Process Training Coordinators, Process Training Advisors, Process Trainers, SME's and Training Administrators to ensure their ongoing development and progression as per their development plans. The position has a profound impact on the safety and quality of work performed at the plant by ensuring the required level of competency of concerned employees.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build effective working relationships with Client Leadership, Subject Matter Experts, Stakeholders, Supervisors, Trainers and Administrators in all areas of the process operations to:

    • Create and ensure the training framework is fit-for-purpose and to encourage mutual ownership and accountability for the system including policies, standards, procedures, tools and templates.

    • Establishment of appropriate structure, roles and responsibilities for effective process operations training.

    • Development of an appropriate strategy for process training to meet current needs and ensure ongoing availability of a qualified pool of Process Units Employees in the future

    • Ensure planning and completion of training as per training framework specifications i.e.:

      • Competency matrices, qualifications frameworks, progression pathways, position profiles, training needs analyses, training plans, module development and update, delivery, assessments, records management, and reporting.

    • Drive completion of training and development projects.

  • Support the Superintendent Talent Management in completion of organization effectiveness activities for Process operations employees.

  • Prepare budgets and forecasts for process training as required.

  • Source and engage external training providers for approved training plans.

The Requirements

  • Minimum - Bachelor of Engineering in Chemical / Process / Minerals / Metallurgy / Petrochemical or similar

  • Certification in Training and Development is advantageous.

  • Minimum - 15 yrs experience in similar environment of with 10yrs Operational experience and 5yrs technical Training experience.

  • Ability to develop strong client relationships with technical subject-matter-experts.

  • Expert understanding of competency- based training systems and requirements.

  • Expert knowledge of learning principles, training methodologies and content development.

  • Knowledge of process operations and human resources requirements.

  • Language skills: English is essential. French is highly advantageous.
