Job Description:

Ambatovy Joint Venture operation in Madagascar, is recruiting a well experienced Lead Mechanic - Tracked Equipment to lead all mine maintenance tracked equipment activities safely and efficiently.

The Role


The Lead Mechanic - Tracked Equipment is accountable for the safe execution of all maintenance activities across heavy and medium mobile equipment, continuous cross-shift performance, the establishment and maintenance of area standards, and the delivery of agreed objectives in areas of work management.


Responsibilities



  • Be aware of, understand and comply with the Ambatovy Health, Safety, Environment and Quality (HSEQ) Policies and associated documentation.

  • Establish and improve systems and procedures to 'manage work', from planning, execution, learning and improvements.

  • Execute tracked equipment work while respecting statutory requirements, local laws and regulations and Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) and Ambatovy equipment safety requirements.

  • Assist the planning phase with recommended tyre forecasts, publish consumption data and assist with Ambatovy's improvement projects.

  • Promote preventive maintenance by motivating personnel to plan and prepare effective work plans and schedules in conjunction with the centralised planning resources.

  • Oversee and improve the quality of workmanship for Ambatovy and Contractor works.

  • Establish area, team and individual skills development plans to meet existing and future business objectives and recommend key personnel for succession planning to lead the tyre bay as part of employee future development plans.



The Requirements



  • Minimum 8 years in the supervision/lead for heavy mobile equipment maintenance

  • Minimum 10 years post Technical diploma experience in mine mobile equipment maintenance

  • Technical diploma in heavy equipment maintenance or similar

  • Certification from recognised Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) or Dealers in equipment maintenance/repairs

  • Strong knowledge and experience in:


    • Equipment and performance expectations in relation to various CAT tracked equipment (6030, 6020, 390F, D8T, D6T)

    • Hydraulics maintenance and repair experience on Drills (Sandvik)

    • Tooling for tracked equipment maintenance and repairs - Ground Equipment Tools (GET)

    • An advanced working proficiency of CAT supporting systems (SIS, ET, VIMS)

    • Working proficiency of Microsoft Office suite and Computerized Maintenance Management Systems Software (CMMS' such as Oracle, Ellipse, Pronto or SAP)

    • Demonstrated success in coaching national employees

    • Exposure to the challenges of operating in remote sites, developing countries and the development of national talent


  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Language skills: English is essential. French is highly advantageous.
