Globe 24-7, in partnership with an important Canadian gold mine, is looking for electricians, working in a residential role from Monday to Friday, in Northern Ontario.

The role
As part of the Maintenance team, the Electrician is an integral member supporting the safe and continuous Mining operation of the site. The Licenced Tradesperson is considered capable and with qualification to install, repair and make good items in planned and unplanned maintenance. Working with a Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS), we have responsibility to ensure all information recorded is as accurate as possible.

The Responsibilities

  • Perform electrical work on new installations, trouble - shooting and repairs as required

  • Read and interpret drawings, circuit diagrams, blueprints and electrical code specifications to determine wiring layouts for new or existing installations

  • Lay down wires; splicing and connecting wires; installing switches, circuit breakers

  • Analyse electrical systems and equipment to figure out why they aren't working

  • Conduct preventative maintenance programs on electrical equipment and keep maintenance records

  • Test continuity of circuits using test equipment to ensure compatibility and safety of system, following installation, replacement or repair

  • Adhere to the OHSA & Acts and Regulations for mines - Z463 Standards

  • Work on assigned daily line-up following work orders and instructions

  • Issue work orders to cover any work completed that would be considered a call out

  • Provide electrical services to new and used equipment; including the power feed cabling, electrical protection equipment in compliance with ESA rules and regulations

  • Troubleshoot electrical systems including electrical mobile equipment, power distribution, leaky feeder (communication systems), PLC, motor controls and any other work as assigned

  • Providing support within the centralized maintenance team

  • Provide nightshift support for Mill including paste plant and crusher operations

  • Provide support for mine air heater during winter months

  • Other duties as directed from time to time

The Requirements

  • Licensed Electrician (Ontario)

  • Red seal certificate is an asset

  • Must be able to read and understand electrical prints

  • Must have good communication and leadership skills

  • Able to set priorities and work with minimum supervision

  • Knowledge of Lockout: high voltage switching and de-energizing cables

  • Ability to competently use a multi-meter/megger insulation tester

  • Understanding of PLC systems and the ability to troubleshoot PLC systems.

  • Carry and lift including overhead up to 30Kg as capable.

  • Frequent walking over uneven ground both up and down gradient

  • Frequent working in awkward positions - squatting, kneeling, bent over, reaching

  • Frequent working with arms overhead

  • Occasional stair / ladder climbing

  • Occasional to frequent neck postures

  • Hand use in confined spaces and with tools

  • Occasional driving over uneven ground

  • Working with electricity (Coloured Wires)

  • Working at heights

  • Night Shift - Fatigue management

  • Ability to work in different environments and conditions: hot, humid, wet, dusty, and cold. Also, when Lighting is restricted and may be excessive noise

  • Willingness to relocate to Kirkland Lake or Timmins
