Job Description:

Ambatovy Nickel Cobalt operations in Madagascar is currently searching for an Emergency Response Coordinator to effectively lead the Emergency Response Teams (ERT) and Fire Protection System Services (FPSS) at the Plant and Mine site.

The Role

The Emergency Response Coordinator will coordinate and provide leadership in the development and implementation of Emergency Response and Fire Protection systems and leading the ERT and FPSS teams as Incident Commander and make all decisions necessary to protect human life, company assets and the environment

The Responsibilities

  • Ensuring appropriate emergency preparedness and response plans are in place.

  • Ensuring adequate resources are in place and operational 24/7 to manage HSE risks, manage emergencies, and recover from incidents. Includes human resources as ERT members, mobile equipment (fire trucks) and fixed fire protection system.

  • Carrying out Fire risk assessments and implementing preventive measures and defining the needs of fire Protection system within new construction and modification of building or installation.

  • Creating or reviewing Standard Operating Procedure and Emergency Response Plan for Fire Emergency Services Organization and addressing any identified risks.

  • SME for External 3rd Party as Insurer/s.

  • Development of National team members to enable them to progress.

The Requirements

  • Minimum Diploma HSE Related.

  • Operational and Command Management Certification (Fire services).

  • Chemical, HAZMAT and/or Technological and Natural Risk Certification.

  • Fire Safety & Risk Management Certification.

  • Minimum 10 years of experience as managing teams in a Fire Brigade and working as Incident Commander.

  • Bilingual: French and English

  • Leadership capabilities including leading a diverse team in adverse emergency conditions.

  • Coaching and Mentoring.

  • Group facilitation and good interpersonal skills are essential in this role to ensure appropriate focus on goals, objectives and activities.
