Under direct supervision, provides direct leadership, instruction and team functions throughout the year and is also responsible for creating and maintaining a clean and safe environment for the swim team participants.
  • Assist Aquatic Director in creating thorough, age-appropriate workouts focusing on technique, endurance, stroke development, etc.
  • Lead structured practices scheduled throughout the year
  • Assist with administrative matters relating to aquatics
  • Interaction with a diverse community; engage community and cultivate relationships to create a collaborative environment
  • Assist in coordinating and executing swim activities
  • Assist in maintaining a clean and safe environment for all participants
  • Perform other duties as required

Minimum Qualifications

  • Two-plus (2+) years of experience working with the public
  • Must be able to demonstrate proficiency of swim skills, have a strong foundation in stroke mechanics and be able to communicate effectively with swimmers and public
  • Enthusiastic, dynamic presence with good communication skills
  • Certifications including CPR, AED, Basic First Aid certification
  • Be at least twenty (20) years of age
  • Ability to swim and demonstrate stroke techniques
  • Ability to instruct and observe participants in proper stroke techniques
  • Ability to lift and move equipment and to lift a small to average sized child
  • Ability to work effectively with aquatics staff, recreational staff and the general public
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
  • Ability to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions
  • Requires knowledge in use of MS Office software
