Job Description:


Globe 24-7, in partnership with Bluestone Resources Inc., is working together to source experienced and qualified talent for their Cerro Blanco Gold & Mita Geothermal Projects in Guatemala.


The Company


Bluestone Resources was created in 2017 with the purchase of the Cerro Blanco gold & Mita Geothermal projects. The Cerro Blanco gold project is a permitted, high-grade underground gold project located in Southeastern Guatemala. The Mita Geothermal project is an advanced-stage, renewable energy project licensed to produce up to 50 megawatts of power.


The Role


Reporting to the Sr. Manager Sustainability, the HSE Manager has overall responsibility of developing and preserving a positive regulatory safety, health and environment performance to contribute with the sustainable growth of the Cerro Blanco Project and his department.


Responsibilities:



  • Build and develop an effective team and people capability by setting direction and management & leading of direct reports, including living company's Values and actively promoting a safe and healthy culture.

  • Develop and implement behavioral safety programs

  • Managing of HSE contractors as well and reviewing their performance and reporting

  • Develop and deliver an annual HSE business plan including, deploying resources to meet the plan and budget objectives

  • Managing the development, implementation and review of Health, Safety and Environmental processes, policies, systems, and management plans ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and relevant industry standards, procedures, risk management processes; Ensuring the continuous improvement of site OHS systems and practices

  • Design and implement suitable training plans to support OHS initiatives across the site; overseeing the delivery of all HSE training as required including the development of an annual training plan

  • Ensure site operations are conducted in compliance with applicable laws, regulations and company standards

  • Elaborate programs to control and prevent personal harm from chemical, biological, ergonomic, and physical hazards

  • Ensure robust risk management, accident investigation and corrective action systems are used effectively

  • Actively managing Mine Safety Transformation including the implementation of Critical Control Management and Process Safety

  • Ensure environmental performance is consistent with long term business plans

  • Overseeing processes that ensure there is a stable foundation of environmental systems in place and that operations personnel comply with established standards

  • Actively promoting sustainable use of the environment and lead by example.


The Requirements



  • Degree or relevant qualification in HSE, Environmental Engineering or related field

  • Relevant professional membershipscertifications

  • At least 10 years of experience leading teams

  • Solid managerial experience in HSE in mining

  • Experience in management or implementation of Behavior-based safety programs, Critical control management programs or Process safety is essential.

  • Experience in underground mining, tunneling or another kind of underground construction is mandatory

  • Ability to inspire, lead, coach and develop employees.

  • Strong strategic planning as well as execution skills

  • Knowledge from quality systems and certifications (ISO, OHSAS, and others)

  • Strong analytical skills

  • Knowledge from IFC standards is an asset

  • Fluent English, as this role prepares reports and presentations to the headquarters

  • Fluent in Spanish, showing excellent writing and verbal skills
