Job Description:

We have an excellent opportunity for a Mining Engineer with underground experience to join a TSX listed gold miner with focus in West Africa

The Role
The Mining Engineer is responsible to provide operational short-term schedules and related plans to ensure budget targets are met. Assist with technical support and coordination of mine operational activities between underground mining contractor and the mining department.

This includes the following;

  • Provide mine development and longhole production plans, designs and schedules

  • Monitor mine ventilation to ensure statutory requirements are met

  • Ensure that routine mine planning is based on sound geotechnical principles and that all mining activities are conducted in a safe and cost-effective manner from a geotechnical point of view


Mine Development and Production Short Term Planning

  • Provide designs and schedules in a timely manner to ensure safe, optimal production.

  • Provide input for yearly plans, schedules, budgets and forecasts.

  • Regularly visit underground to inspect development areas to ensure the safe, efficient development and production.

  • Planning of mine infrastructure required for operational efficiency, services and mine expansion.

  • Train other engineers as required to allow further advancement.

  • Identifying and evaluating areas of technical improvement that adds value to the company.

  • Provide a monthly reconciliation against the month plan / forecast and actual performance.


  • 5 years in similar underground mining engineering-based roles.

  • Tertiary qualified in Mining Engineering or related qualification.

  • Extensive knowledge and practical application in underground narrow vein mining operations.

  • Able to use underground 3D mine design and scheduling software packages such as Datamine (Studio5D Planner/Studio UG), Mine 2-4D and EPS

  • Able to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization and build effective relationships and networks.

  • Possesses strong training and mentoring skills with the ability to develop an effective team.

  • Ability to respond to a changing work environment.

  • The ability to manage multiple projects and tasks at the same time.

  • French language skills desired, not essential.

  • A reputation for integrity and ethics.
