Job Description:

Ambatovy Joint Venture operation in Madagascar, is recruiting an experienced Superintendent Security Operations who will be required to Organize, maintain and coordinate security for Ambatovy sites (Mine or Plant), and associated off site facilities.

The Role
This position reports to the Hiring leader and is required to Organize, maintain and coordinate security for Ambatovy sites (Mine or Plant), and associated off site facilities.


Responsibilities



  • Establish and maintain security systems, including access control, technical security elements such as alarm systems, cameras, monitoring equipment and site specific security procedures in compliance with Ambatovy Security Management System.

  • Develop and maintain emergency response and contingency plans and programs related to the security and protection of people, processes, equipment, and company assets.

  • Establish tactical information networks essential to site Security operations.

  • Conduct Security Vulnerability and Risk Assessments and briefings as required.

  • Constantly provides the Site Management and the Ambatovy Security Manager with information about the internal security assessments.

  • Coordinate closely with Sustainability and Human Resources Managers regarding security conditions that impact communities and/or employees.

  • Maintains permanent coordination with site management and Contractors' Superintendents/ Managers regarding the Security system.

  • Monitor security related activities of contractors, Gendarmes and other stakeholders.

  • Develop and maintain the Security Management Plan and understand the related budget.

  • Conduct internal security preliminary investigations and in coordination with the Ambatovy Security Manager, evaluate and determine serious security offences.

  • Manage Security contractors, local Police and Gendarmes in the area directly impacted by operations.

  • Act as the Security Advisor at the Crisis Management Team (CMT).

  • Ensure the respect of Voluntary Principles of Human Rights in all sites of Ambatovy


The Requirement



  • Military/Law Enforcement training programs followed by extensive on the job training and practical experience in a security function in the Extractive Industry

  • Secondary School completion required preference for related degree level qualification.

  • 5 to 10 years' experience in a similar position

  • EX Police force or Military background (NCO or Officer)

  • Physical security training and recognised qualifications (non-Government)

  • Security report writing experience

  • Security professional with strong technical and operational security background in the Extractive Industries.

  • Proven track record of leading and motivating a team basis in order to achieve defined objectives

  • Strong sense of organisation and ability to develop competencies and transfer knowledge to the team

  • Ability to manage a security service based on a community and government engagement strategy

  • Good Knowledge of and working experience with, Voluntary Principles of Human Rights

  • Ability to engage with and build relationships with external stakeholders based on trust

  • Strong ability to analyse and utilise information within a threat and vulnerability focus

  • Training and developing subordinates to assume positions of greater responsibility in the organization.

  • Language skills: Bilingual English / French mandatory
