Job Description:

Ambatovy Joint Venture operation in Madagascar, are recruiting a well experienced Category Superintendent to develop strategies for specific spend categories.

Globe 24-7 in partnership with Ambatovy, is working together to source experienced and qualified talent for their existing world class lateritic nickel processing facilities and mining operation in Madagascar. The Role


The Category Superintendent will execute strategies in order to realize cost reductions, improve the security of supply and maintain or improve quality required.



The Responsibilities:



  • Be aware of, understand and comply with the Ambatovy Health, Safety, Environment and Quality (HSEQ) Policies and associated documentation.

  • Develop sourcing strategies for allocated categories of spend for goods, services or project procurement.

  • Gather and guide the team of stakeholders to execute specific strategies in accordance with sourcing procedures.

  • Lead evaluation and negotiation activities to the point of the recommendation development to realize value.

  • Manage contract signature and contractor/supplier transition where required.

  • Manage expiries of suite of contracts in allocated category.

  • Provide commercial support for contracts in category to rectify issues as they arise.

  • Monitor team performance and train team to improve their ability to perform category management.


The Requirements



  • University Degree in Commerce, Business or Economics.

  • Minimum 10 years project experience.

  • Knowledge and experience in the following:

  • Principal of contract law and a complete understanding of Procurement Standards T&Cs

  • Technical knowledge of the different type of contracts

  • Experience of Category Management in a in operational setting, Mining or Oil & Gas industry

  • Good commercial acumen

  • Previous working experience in a developing country.

  • Ability to communicate effectively in French and working knowledge of written and spoken English.

  • Strong communication and writing skills together with a professional demeanour is a must.

  • Management, organizational and interpersonal skills.
