Job Description:

Ambatovy Joint Venture operation in Madagascar, is recruiting an experienced Manager Strategic Sourcing who will be required to oversee the development of strategies for all spend categories.

Ambatovy Joint Venture in partnership with Globe 24-7, are working together to source experienced and qualified talent for their existing world class lateritic nickel processing facilities and mining operation in Madagascar. The Role


This position reports to the Director Supply Chain Management, oversees a team of approximately 100 with 7 direct reports. The successful applicant will be required to create the annual sourcing plan and ensure adherence to developed strategies in order to realise reductions in cost, improvements in the security of supply and to maintain or improve the quality of goods and services to Ambatovy.


Responsibilities



  • Ensures a safe working environment and promotion of all safety initiatives

  • Development of annual sourcing plans for relevant spend categories in goods, services, bulk materials and project procurement

  • Monitor the sourcing plans to ensure it is executed in a timely fashion

  • Ensure cogent strategies are put together and executed in accordance with sourcing procedures and with the full engagement of the business

  • Manage the standard of evaluation and negotiation activities to ensure recommendations are developed that optimize value for the business

  • Development of local businesses to supply to Ambatovy standards, volumes and time frames

  • Execute contracts within delegated authority

  • Approve purchase orders and purchase requisitions within delegated authority

  • Chair the Procurement Committee for relevant project approvals

  • Ensure contract expiries and contractor/supplier transition to ensure the business is not put at risk

  • Provide commercial support to the business to rectify issues as they arise

  • Monitor team performance and train the team to improve their ability to perform category management


The Requirements



  • A tertiary qualification in commerce, business, logistics or economics is required

  • A procurement qualification & professional certification / membership

  • Experience in a similar operational environment in remote developing countries and multi-cultural environments

  • A minimum of 15 years' experience with at least 5 years in a management role

  • Exposure to ERP systems

  • Successful track record of developing skills and capability of local workforce

  • A commitment to develop and encourage the use of local suppliers

  • Outstanding leadership skills

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

  • French language skills are advantageous
