Job Description:


A great opportunity for an experienced Business Improvement professional to join a dynamic global mining company and participate in its growth.


Globe 24-7, in partnership with Newcrest Mining Limited is working together to source experienced and qualified talent for their Red Chris Joint Venture located 80 km south of Dease Lake, BC in Tahltan traditional territory.


The Company:


Newcrest Mining Limited, a global mining company and Australia's largest gold producer owns and operates a portfolio of predominantly low cost, long life mines and a strong pipeline of brownfields and greenfields exploration projects. The company has recently expanded its footprint into British Columbia as the operator of a Joint Venture company, Newcrest Red Chris Mining Limited.


The Role:


The Superintendent Business Improvement is responsible for developing and supporting business improvement initiatives and managing the improvement pipeline across the Red Chris Mine value chain.


The Responsibilities:


The successful candidate will benchmark site performance, identify opportunities for improvement, assist in building business cases, and track initiative progress. Superintendent, Business Improvement will facilitate cross departmental co-operation and collaboration to maximize business value by ensuring site and corporate initiatives are translated into Red Chris' business goals.


Safety Accountabilities:


Demonstrate absolute commitment and leadership in providing a safe working environment by:



  • Promoting and maintaining a culture of 'safe production' by compliance with company safety systems, policies, procedures and accountabilities

  • Ensure all incidents, near misses and hazards are reported and recorded in CHESS and are investigated and closed out in a timely manner


Technical Accountabilities:



  • Govern the Red Chris improvement initiative pipeline and follow up and track to ensure actions are being delivered on time and on budget

  • Strong project governance skills; managing timeframes and budgets

  • Project timeline and value tracking

  • Compliance with Red Chris' standards, procedures, policies and government legislation


Scheduling Accountabilities:



  • Planning and participating in interdepartmental meetings to ensure collaboration and pipeline of ideas

  • Proven ability to lead and promote change at all levels

  • Long-term thinking and strategical planning

  • Identifying gaps in the process and improvement opportunities


People Accountabilities:



  • Display behavior consistent with Newcrest's Code of Conduct

  • Ensure all work-related Injuries and Illnesses are classified correctly as per the relevant Newcrest procedures

  • Safety-focused leadership


The Requirements:



  • Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in the mining industry at an operating mine.

  • A solid knowledge of all mine departments and ability to work closely across multiple work areas/disciplines (mine, mill, tailings, warehouse, camp and contractors)

  • Proven ability to lead and drive projects (both process change projects and physical build)

  • Bachelor's degree from a recognized University in Mining, Metallurgical, Mineral Processing, Geological Engineering or related discipline preferred.

  • Ability to influence people for change

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and consultative skills with the ability to interact with Management, employees, and all stakeholders.

  • Ability to solve problems and improve business with the goal of creating value

  • Comfortable working in remote environments with occasional international travel

  • Working rights in Canada required.
