Safety Manager

Fura Gems, in Colombia, is currently searching for an experienced Safety Manager to provide expertise and support in the Operation.

The Company

Our client, Fura Gems, is a natural resources company that selected Globe 24-7 support in recruiting an experienced security manager due to our experience and market knowledge.

The Position

The Safety Manager will be responsible for the design, implement, manage, coordinate and execute the activities of the Management System of Health and Safety at Work of the company.


  • To be the axis of the culture of improving safety as a way of life.

  • Identify safety requirements and determine the impact they may have on the operation.

  • Monitor safety behaviors in relation to expectations.

  • Conduct internal safety audits, monitor and report the closings of the audit findings.

  • Develop safety investigations, periodic safety checks, safety training in the mine (involving engineers and operators).

  • Report the company's performance against safety systems and make recommendations on the findings.

  • Facilitate the identification and evaluation of safety risks, updating the risk register.

  • Report safety and information statistics.

  • Implement the baseline risk assessment.

  • Coordinate the development of operational safety procedures as a result of risk assessments.

  • Coordinate adherence to the report of incidents, accidents and non-conformities by all supervisors.

  • Organize internal plant audits when deemed necessary, compiling the monthly and annual reports of HSEQ.

  • Conduct and coordinate training in awareness and safety awareness.

  • Direct HSEQ compliance in accordance with current mining regulations.

  • Monitoring and evaluation of the ventilation system.

  • Implementation of the regulations (decree 1886) in relation to health and safety at work.

  • Plan, organize, direct, develop and apply the OSHMS and at least once a year carries out its evaluation.

  • Inform the legal representative and senior management about the operation and Default and the results of the SG-SST.

  • Promote the participation of all members of the company in the implementation of the OSHMS.

  • Coordinate with the heads of the areas, the development, and updating of the matrix of hazard identification, risk assessment and assessment and prioritization to focus the intervention.

  • Validate action plans with the heads of the areas and monitor compliance.

  • Promote understanding of policies at all levels of the organization.

  • Manage resources and request to comply with the Occupational Health and Safety plan and monitor the indicators.

  • Coordinate training needs in prevention according to priority risks and levels of the organization.

  • Support the investigation of accidents and workplace incidents.

  • Participate in the meetings of the Occupational Health and Safety Committee.

  • Implementation and monitoring of the SG-SST.

  • Suspend any activity that puts people's integrity at risk.

The Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering.

  • Safety Certification

  • +12-15 years of work experience in similar matters

  • Experience in underground mining

  • Advanced level of English

  • Specific knowledge in Colombian Legislation, 1886 Decree, Office management, especially Excel (databases).

  • Skills: Security, Entrepreneurial attitude, Simplicity, Responsibility, Transparency
