A great opportunity for an experienced project controls professional to join a dynamic global mining company and participate in its growth.


THE COMPANY


Our clients are a Canadian-based gold mining and exploration company with operations in North America and Asia. Globe 24-7, in partnership with their clients is working together to source experienced and qualified talent for their mining project in Northern BC.


THE ROLE


Reporting to the Construction Manager, the Project Controls Manager (PCM), will follow a 4 days on 3 days off schedule, and provide scheduling, estimating, cost engineering and contract administration support to the owner's team staff. The PCM will produce project reports that contain analysis, charts, graphs and lists that effectively communicate the plans, progress, and forecast of the overall project. The PCM should have an in-depth knowledge of both scheduling software and principals of budgeting and cost engineering. The successful candidate will setup and maintain the Project Controls department and have responsibility for the overall project schedule and tracking of the project budget. This position requires experience in heavy construction, preferably mining, and knowledge of project management practices.


THE RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Provide project controls management, including baseline schedule development and management, performance status and reporting, baseline change control, risk management, earned value management guidance and tools.

  • Advice and consult on the application of effective planning techniques and controls (earned value, cost and schedule variance, estimates at completion, critical path analysis).

  • Support the development of integrated master schedules for specific programs in Primavera and/or Microsoft Project that reflect all interface milestones and activity durations from multiple contractors' schedules and feed changes to the integrated master schedule.

  • Monitor and control program compliance in respect of the project's contractual obligations.

  • Assist Senior Management in the review and update of periodic business reviews, including annual capital and operating cost budgets for the mine consistent with the Company's requirements.

  • Ensuring the Project controls team produce weekly / monthly reports in line with the project and company reporting calendar, providing details on progress, actuals, forecast and explanation of variances.

  • Ensure that project controls processes are consistently applied across the project.

  • Manage governance to ensure robust cost and schedule performance for the agreed Scope of Work.

  • Constructively influence others, managing cross-functional relationships at all levels and inspire / lead improvement.



THE REQUIREMENTS:



  • Bachelor's Degree in engineering, construction management or related field

  • Minimum of 8+ years of experience in project controls and scheduling preferably related to underground mining

  • Ability to develop and maintain detailed schedules, ensure adherence to quality standards and develop/maintain policies and procedures

  • Hands on experience with scheduling software is required

  • Relocation to Prince George, BC.

  • The position follows a schedule rotation of 4 days on 3 days off using Prince George, BC as a marshalling point.
