Senior Manager Process Operations



A great opportunity for an experienced professional to lead the mineral processing operations and provide strategic leadership to the Team.

The Role


Reporting initially to the Project Director and then to the GM & Country Manager, the Sr. Manager, Process Operations will be responsible for mineral processing operations and maintenance, metallurgy, process/water treatment/energy generation plants as well as the analytical laboratory, ensuring the safe operation of equipment while maximizing reliability and efficiency and minimizing costs.


Key areas of responsibility:



  • During the construction of the process plant, participate in the planning and reviews of plant designs for all aspects of operability and maintainability and ensure identification and resolution of construction deficiencies.

  • Determine the overall strategy and plans for the Plant and Maintenance departments and provides expertise, knowledge and guidance for maintenance related to long-term and short-term planning, scheduling, down day execution, control and management, inventory management, critical spares, parts purchasing, maintenance processes and practices, etc.

  • Ensure the readiness for mill operations and maintenance activities through appropriate creation of Standard Operating Procedures and tracking of activities.

  • Ensure appropriate operational planning and lead the preparation for budgeting for departments under your responsibly.

  • Ensure the integrated activity and communication between all functions within and supporting the water treatment plant, processing plant, paste fill plant, analytical laboratory, and energy generation plant.

  • Work closely with the Senior Management team to collaboratively identify site-wide improvements and initiatives.

  • Ensure all Capital and Operating budgetary expectations and targets are met and lead cost reduction initiatives.

  • Lead, coach and develop employees.

  • Ensuring environmental compliance and safe functionality of the plant operations and maintenance of equipment.

  • Maintaining a good community relation as part of the business strategy.



Our Requirements:


Formal Education, Certifications or Equivalents



  • Bachelor's degree in Metallurgy, Chemical Engineering, or equivalent engineering-related degree.


Working Experience - Nature & Length



  • Minimum fifteen years' experience in Metallurgical Operations, Engineering and/or Laboratory environment.

  • Previous gold processing experience (Crushing-Grinding-Gravity-Cyanidation-Refining).

  • Previous experience transitioning from construction through to commissioning and then operations an asset.

  • Significant experience in mining operations and current knowledge of mining technology and heavy production equipment.

  • Minimum seven years' experience in leadership roles.

  • Knowledge of the principles & methods used in metallurgical and processing analysis, hands-on practical application, and process optimization.

  • Demonstrated experience in managing department costs, budgeting, and application of continuous improvement ideas.

  • Proven ability to display strong leadership with an ability to build, organize and coordinate staff and get the best out of teams to achieve company goals.

  • A proven communicator who has a demonstrated strength in effectively and efficiently taking plans to actions

  • Adaptability and flexibility to work effectively in a context of constant change, shifting priorities, and conflicting demands, to embrace new ideas and to adjust to a variety of situations and individuals.

  • Exposure to multi-national, multi-cultural environments, preferably within Latin America.

  • Language Skills: Fluent Spanish and Advanced English.

  • Ability to relocate to Guatemala or follow a FIFO rotation
