A great opportunity for an experienced mining professional to join a dynamic global mining company and participate in its growth.


Globe 24-7, in partnership with their client is working together to source experienced and qualified talent for their Copper/gold operations in Northern British Columbia. Our clients are a global mining company and Australia's largest gold producer owning and operating a portfolio of predominantly low cost, long life mines and a strong pipeline of Brownfields and Greenfields exploration projects. The company has recently expanded its footprint into North America operating its first operations in British Columbia.


The purpose of the role is to guide the definition, design, tendering and construction of the Early Works project, managing a small owners team, various stakeholders and contractors, to deliver the exploration decline to meet the requirements of the Block Cave business plan. This person will be assisting in the development of an underground mining team capable of leading the next stages of block cave construction at Red Chris.


  • Guide the owners project team to complete the data gathering, engineering studies and the contractor tendering needed to inform a funding application for the Exploration Decline

  • Drive the Tender process to create a recommendation to award in all areas to support the Exploration Decline.

  • Form the owner's team to manage the contractor

  • Manage the construction of the Exploration Decline, including

    • The box cut, portal and

    • office/dry/workshop/ power supply facilities to support it.

    • The underground decline, ventilation raises and drill platform.

  • Deliver the project on time, within budget, and as per technical specification and present & report as required to the project Steering committee.

  • Provide safety leadership to the project with a strong focus on process safety and culture.

  • Assist in building the site underground management and technical team that will proceed with the next steps of underground construction (pending approval) including training / mentoring and recruitment efforts.

  • Deliver effective, ongoing, site-based stakeholder engagement, to facilitate cooperation and alignment through strong relationship management between Ref Chris Operations personnel, Project Delivery, Technology, and Technical Services;

  • Challenge assumptions and foster innovative thinking, to deliver the best outcomes for Newcrest


  • 10+ years of experience in the mining industry, in operating underground mines and projects under development/expansion

  • Previous working experience with the block caving method

  • Solid understanding of operational, technical, and engineering components of the projects

  • Experience cooperating with the Study Team, working on concepts, and giving general guidance

  • Team management experience

  • Strong experience with Norther Canadian mining projects/operations

  • Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written) upwards (to General Manager/Study Manager/Project Director) and to Operational and Technical levels

  • Experience interacting and communicating with local communities, i.e. First Nations

  • Bachelor's degree in relevant engineering field

  • Availability to work under 12:9 rotation with some flexibility as per project requirements
