Job Description:

A great opportunity for an experienced professional to lead the geotechnical and hydrogeological group at Cerro Blanco project.

The Role


The purpose of the role is to provide expertise and leadership in the areas of hydrogeological modelling and dewatering. This person will be working collaboratively with the Mine Planning and Services areas within the Technical Services department.


Key areas of responsibility:



  • Lead the geotechnical and hydrogeological group to ensure data collection, interpretation, and feedback to other groups

  • Direct and manage geotechnical and hydrogeological projects related to the underground mine. This includes contractor management of geo/ hydro specific contract work

  • Lead investigations and reporting of geotechnical related incidents

  • Participate in mine planning, optimization studies, and evaluation of mining methods

  • Complete geotechnical designs for stoping and underground infrastructure areas

  • Complete ground support design, QAQC, and database management

  • Collaborate with Geology group to maintain structural and geotechnical models to guide mine planning and design

  • Implement, manage, and interpret results of geotechnical monitoring and data collection tools

  • Train and mentor expat and local staff

  • Develop and manage annual budget associated with the group


Our Requirements:


Formal Education, Certifications or Equivalents



  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering Geology, Geotechnical Engineering, or other related discipline Working Experience -


Nature & Length



  • 10-15+ years underground mining experience with increasing levels of responsibility

  • Leadership of technical teams

  • Developing and managing annual departmental budgets

  • Proficient in geotechnical and geological modeling software

  • Proficient in hydrogeological modeling software will be considered an asset

  • Contract development, contractor engagement, management, and cost control

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in Spanish, English will be considered an asset
