We have an excellent opportunity for an experienced Exploration Manager in Spain.


Our client is an ASX listed Australian resources company focused on exploring and developing strategic mineral deposits. The Company is currently focused on fast-tracking advanced base metals projects in Spain following a transformational transaction announced in 2019.


Reporting to the CEO and Managing Director, the Exploration Manager will be responsible for all technical aspects of the high-quality base metals project in Spain.


Essential Duties:

  • Responsible for the design and delivery of exploration and development programme, in line with the corporate strategy and objectives.

  • Develop and execute effective, outcome-focused exploration activities in Spain

  • Exercise technical, administrative and budgetary control over the exploration programme.

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships within the industry with suppliers, other exploration/mining companies and agencies.

  • Plan, supervise and conduct field work in Spain including drilling programmes, geological, geophysical and geochemical surveys.

  • Delineate and test high quality drill targets within the Company's projects by year-end

  • Develops a strong local team through staff training and reviews, providing guidance and support to accomplish the set goals.

  • Demonstrate strong leadership to local communities, the environment, and the Company employee's and contractor's health and safety.

  • Produces reports and presentations for the Company and government agencies, including budget preparation and submitting, cost tracking, completing projects on budget, within planned time frames, and achieve performance measures.

Compliance / Quality Control:

  • Ensure personnel have the appropriate equipment, licenses, skills, induction and training to safely undertake their tasks.

  • Promote and adhere to appropriate internal methodologies, policies, procedures and standards.

  • Consistently maintain a high quality of work across all allocated functions.

  • Provide input/informed commentary, improvement opportunities and areas of risk to management.

  • Be accountable for the quality of work output from the local subsidiaries.

  • Implement and monitor quality assurance programs to ensure accurate records are maintained for core logging, assay and QA/QC results, geological modelling, and all geotechnical activities

Staff Development:

  • Provide management, guidance, coaching and technical assistance and support to the team.

  • Monitor and evaluate the performance of the team to identify areas requiring improvement and implement measures to ensure employees receive sufficient training enabling them to perform their duties.

  • Promote and develop the skills of subordinates through the transfer of technology and skill development through on-the-job training programs.

  • Conduct formal career development discussions with employees and identify development opportunities and programs that assist with defining future career progression possibilities.

  • Encourage and facilitate effective and supportive communication between all team members and related departments

Safety Management:

  • Demonstrate personal commitment to safety, environmental and Social Responsibility practices.

  • Ensure every person within team is fit for work.

  • Ensure that agreed procedures, safeguards and controls are applied and used.

  • Ensure all activities are conducted safely and in accordance with Company standards and procedures

  • Ensure hazard management plans are observed.

  • Keep statutory and internal reporting as required.

The Exploration Manager must:

  • Ensure compliance to relevant country mining laws and work

  • Comply with all safety procedures

  • Report any breaches in compliance particularly with all statutory requirements and company standards.



  • Bachelor in Geosciences or related field, and broad and varied experience, including supervisory responsibilities

Relevant experience:

  • Minimum 10 years' industry experience in a mining or exploration environment.

  • High-level of knowledge of mineralisation models and geological processes.

  • Spanish and English fluent language skills are required

  • Working experience with Historic Database, drill hole planning and drilling execution as well as UG channel sampling.

  • Competent Person status as defined by JORC (or similar body) and able to oversee JORC Mineral Resource Estimate

  • Experience of working effectively in a senior management team environment.

  • Able to communicate effectively at all levels of the organisation and build effective relationships and networks.

  • Possesses strong training and mentoring skills with the ability to develop an effective team.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to respond to a changing work environment.

  • The ability to manage multiple projects and tasks at the same time.

  • Agile and flexible combining intellectual rigour with entrepreneurial spirit.

  • A reputation for integrity and ethics.

  • Confident with press releases and presentations.

  • Must have right to work in Spain / EU
