Early Works Construction/Project Manager


OVERVIEW


Globe 24-7, in partnership with their client is working together to source experienced and qualified talent for their underground expansion project at their Copper/gold operations in Northern British Columbia.


THE COMPANY


Our clients are a global mining company and Australia's largest gold producer owning and operating a portfolio of predominantly low cost, long life mines and a strong pipeline of Brownfields and Greenfields exploration projects. The company has recently expanded its footprint into North America operating its first operations in British Columbia.


THE ROLE


Reporting to the Head of Strategic Studies, the Early Works Manager will be responsible for managing the owner's team, various stakeholders and contractors to safely and efficiently deliver the boxcut and exploration decline to meet the requirements of their Block Cave Project.


THE RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Lead the owner's project team to complete the data gathering, engineering studies and the contractor tendering needed to inform a funding application for the Exploration Decline

  • Drive the tendering process in all areas to support the construction of the Exploration Decline and all associated infrastructure both surface and underground.

  • Form the owner's teams to manage the construction and underground mining activities

  • Manage the execution of the boxcut and exploration decline

  • Manage the construction of infrastructure to support the current and future mining activities.

  • Delivering the project on time, within budget and as per technical specification

  • Provide safety leadership to the project with a strong focus on process safety and culture

  • Present and report as required to the project Steering Committee


THE REQUIREMENTS



  • Bachelor's degree in relevant engineering field.

  • Minimum of 15 years' experience in a similar role with strong technical knowledge in delivering mining (or similar) projects

  • Strong experience with Northern Canadian mining projects/operations

  • Proficient knowledge of working with budgets and driving schedule

  • A proven track record in the delivery of large construction projects over $75 million

  • Experience establishing and maintaining relationships with all associated stakeholders

  • Exceptional leadership qualities

  • Strong problem-solving abilities

  • Excellent people skills with the ability to foster strong business relationships

  • Demonstrate absolute commitment and leadership in providing a safe working environment
