The Company

Entre Mares de Guatemala is a natural resource company focused on advancing the permitted, high-grade Cerro Blanco gold project located in the southwestern part of Guatemala. The Role

This role will primarily focus on providing HSEC support and developing and maintain systems, guidelines, and standards, such as ISO 14001, ISO45001, IFC PS, TSM, GRI, VPs, EITI, SDGs, TCFD and grievances mechanism.

Key areas of responsibility:

  • Work with the Senior Manager Sustainability to ensure appropriate planning for health, safety, environment and community compliance and activities.

  • Provide visible leadership to improve health, safety, environmental and community risk identification, reporting and incident management.

  • Develop, implement and improve the Company HSE Management Systems to conform IFC guidelines and ensure compliance with ISO guidelines.

  • Provide advice to ensure that all works are conducted in accordance with IFC requirements and other health, safety, environment, and community obligations.

  • Complete and or review necessary statutory HSEC reports and ensure accurate internal reporting of HSEC performance.

  • Liaise with contractors and other service providers to ensure that they comply with company requirements.

  • Continually monitor and manage training requirements of all employees to ensure skills requirements are met. Maintain an accurate and full account of all training, inductions and assessments conducted.

  • Conduct audits, meetings, training, seminars and other activities designed to enhance HSEC awareness as prescribed by EMG policies, guidelines, standards and procedures.

  • Work with the contractors and operational teams to ensure that rehabilitation activities are completed as soon as practicable. Ensure appropriate monitoring and record keeping of rehabilitation activities.

  • Support alignment to ISO14001, 45001 and GRI standards.

  • Prepare timely, accurate and detailed reports to meet Company requirements.

Our Requirements:

Formal Education, Certifications or Equivalents

  • Qualifications on Sustainability or related field, or other relevant or complementary qualifications.

Working Experience - Nature & Length

  • Minimum 5, but ideally 7+ years' experience in mining or similar industry

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Self-motivated, well organised with attention to detail and adaptable, with high initiative and excellent communication and negotiation skills.

  • An understanding of safety management systems and their practical implementation.

  • Practical knowledge of working in hazardous industries with the capacity to readily identify, assess and provide professional direction in relation to risk profiles.

  • Broad based knowledge and understanding of hazards and impacts associated with mining

  • operations or other high-risk industry.

  • A sound understanding of applicable legislation.

  • Medically fit to work in remote locations

  • Valid driver's license and proficiency in operating 4WD vehicles.

  • Bilingual in English/ Spanish

This is a permanent full-time opportunity to commence immediately. The International Standards Senior Advisor will be based out of the Asuncion Mita but may be required to spend some time in Guatemala City. We therefore require a candidate who can work flexible rosters, sometimes with short notice, to align with business needs.
