Senior Metallurgist


OVERVIEW


Globe 24-7, in partnership with their clients is working together to source experienced and qualified Metallurgist to work for their Open Pit Operations in British Columbia.


THE ROLE


The Senior Metallurgist will provide coaching, mentoring and development to a team of Metallurgists, EITs, and Metallurgical Technicians, technical support to the Operations group, assistance in short-to-medium term planning and monthly reporting, while maintaining a strong commitment to company standards of safety and behaviours.


THE RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Monitor and advise on parameters for the metallurgical operation of the ore processing plant

  • Drives idea generation sessions, implements continuous improvement, and ensures project delivery

  • Implement work plans that align to strategic plans, i.e. PoaP

  • Monitor metallurgical advancements and recommend appropriate selection and implementation.

  • Monitor compliance with company metallurgical accounting standards

  • Lead or participate in Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for non-compliance and ensure corrective actions are implemented and monitored

  • Perform regular trend analysis to ensure equipment and process health meets the metallurgical requirements

  • Coordinates work and matches competency with task requirements

  • Participates and approves risk management processes, e.g. JSEA and CCM

  • Demonstrate absolute commitment and leadership in providing a safe working environment

  • Taking a proactive risk management approach to departmental tasks, i.e. recognise, analyse, respond to ensure risks are managed in accordance with company requirements

  • Supporting the Safety Management System ensuring a safety-first work culture

  • Participating in site safety initiatives and support the NewSafe behaviours in the team

  • Lead and develop direct reports through mentoring, coaching, and training

  • Coordinates work and matches competency with task requirements

  • Recognise and support key personnel for career development; identify high potential personnel; support the performance review and management processes

  • Provides the short- and medium-term inputs for production forecasting including, but not limited to development of the weekly and three-monthly rolling plan

  • Develops medium and short-term work plans to prioritise tasks and effectively allocate resources

  • Deliver on objectives outlined in workplans aligned to the site business planning and PoaP

  • Create and coordinate work plans and ensure resources are managed

  • Manage workforce to ensure adequate coverage for day to day and leave coverage

  • Manage the rotation of staff to ensure adequate competence across the team is maintained

  • Works with Marketing team to provide timely information on weekly, monthly and 3-monthly concentrate projections, including review of the trucking scheduled for the purposes of planning shipment forecasts


THE REQUIREMENTS



  • BSc or BE in Extractive Metallurgy, Process Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related discipline

  • P.Eng certified or eligible

  • 7+ years of relevant industry experience with atleast 2 years in a supervisory capacity
