Superintendent Maintenance Planning and Execution (Utilities)



Ambatovy Joint Venture operation in Madagascar, is recruiting an experienced Superintendent Maintenance Planning and Execution Utilities to ensure maintenance planning, scheduling and execution are completed to a high standard within the department. The position exists as a key role within the operations team to drive efficiency, safety, quality of work and alignment with production plans.

The Role


The Superintendent Maintenance Planning and Execution Utilities role is critical to the success of the department by ensuring the plant is reliable through the implementation of maintenance best practices, costs are kept within budget level and business risks monitored and managed regularly.



Responsibilities



  • Accountable for the planning, scheduling & kitting of all maintenance activities for the department and the safe execution of mechanical maintenance.

  • Responsible to ensure the work for the field execution is communicated correctly and carried out in the field as per the maintenance plan.

  • Executes safe work plans, ensuring appropriate tools, training, and resources are available to mechanical maintenance personnel.

  • Identifies, designs, and implements process improvements to achieve and exceed reliable operation targets.

  • Drives the team to provide timely and responsive customer service to operations, resolving issues impacting the production forecast.

  • Advises on best maintenance practices which are fit for purpose based on the production requirement and low-cost environment.

  • Leads investigations and recoveries of equipment failures which are critical to production plan.

  • Designs a maintenance strategy which meets operational and financial requirements to the end user and low-cost environment.

  • Implementation of best practices in planning and scheduling while adhering to the company policies.

  • Approval/ Control of the following:

    • Work plans to execute High Risk Activities which include the coordination of relevant Manager approval for Tasks being executed deemed high risk

    • Maintenance Budget + $50M USD

    • Planned and break in work scope based on Asset Integrity Recommendations

    • High Risk work permits to be executed within the defined operating area which may impact Asset Integrity or the safety of the work area i.e. Grid Mesh Removal.

    • Contractor & Sub Contractor activities including safe work methods, personnel access, and access for tooling / equipment to meet site standards.





The Requirements



  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical is preferred. Millwright Trade Qualified may be considered.

  • Minimum 10 years experience working a progressive Supervisory capacity to Superintendent in a similar industry.

  • Proven experience in the following areas within utilities is essential:

    • Pressure Vessel Maintenance, Repair and or Fabrication

    • Valve Maintenance, fault finding and repair methods

    • Pump Maintenance, fault finding and repair method

    • High Pressure Applications



  • Sound knowledge in project management fundamentals.

  • Relevant experience in maintenance planning and scheduling, shutdown management/coordination in a similar industry.

  • Training and development of local teams essential.

  • Oil and Gas, Petrochemical, Power Generation industry experience is a preference.

  • EAM or similar CMMS system experience is required.
