Supervisor Mine Maintenance Planning

Ambatovy Joint Venture operation in Madagascar, is recruiting an experienced Supervisor Mine Maintenance Planning to lead, plan, organize and control the maintenance planning and scheduling activities for the mine fixed plant equipment.

The Role

The Supervisor Mine Maintenance Planning will oversee the development of the 12-month and 5-year maintenance plans for the fixed plant. He/She will manage the planning and scheduling of short term and annual shutdown activities as well as budget control. He/She will expertly manage the interaction with the maintenance execution, procurement, and mine operations departments.

The Responsibilities



  • Promotes safe work practices per AMSA Health and Safety program.

  • Supervising the planning and scheduling of day to day maintenance activities for the fixed plant.

  • Coordinate planning activities for both corrective, preventative, and predictive maintenance tasks.

  • Integrate all EAM functionality into the planning of weekly, monthly, yearly, and long-term plans. Priority given to planned work based on OEM maintenance best practices.

  • Coordinate all manpower and material to repair equipment and to support operations in maintaining a high up-time efficiency of all equipment.

  • Using the planned maintenance forecast to assist planners to ensure that all required spare parts, materials and service contracts are corresponding to support the planned maintenance activities.

  • Ensure parts availability for planned maintenance activities. Liaise with Supply Chain on a continuous basis regarding spare parts availability.

  • Supervising the planning and scheduling of the annual shutdown as well as developing and controlling the budget.

  • Review /define shutdown scopes for both scheduled and unexpected shutdowns in liaison with the other groups (Operations, Maintenance and Technical Services).

  • Develop budgets for planned work, shutdowns as well as equipment overhauls.

  • Issue post reports for major equipment overhauls or fixed equipment shutdowns ensuring all executed work orders are properly documented and finalized in the CMMS.

  • Ensure work order life cycle from work request to work order completion. (validation, estimation, work pack, scheduling, execution, completion, data entries, closing)

  • Ensure maintenance strategies and plans are updated on EAM. Manage the fixed plant master data on EAM.

  • Participate in audits and inspections, as well as in the management of non-conformances, incident and actions as required.

  • Oversee capital project activities within his/her area.

  • Responsible for KPI reporting to various levels of management.

  • Issue post reports for major equipment overhauls or fixed equipment shutdowns ensuring all executed work orders are properly documented and finalized in the CMMS.

  • Provide support / training of National planners to upgrade their skills to a level which provides for an effective planning department.


The Requirements



  • Diploma in Engineering, Mechanical or Electrical.

  • Trade Qualified (Millwright) from recognized Institution will be considered.

  • Minimum of 10 years' progressive experience as a fixed plant maintenance planner/scheduler supervisor.

  • Preference will be given to candidates with wide experience in a maintenance planning role in large open cut mining operations, mineral processing plants or other heavy industrial facilities

  • Experience in defining and implementing turnaround processes will be an asset.

  • Proven track record in planning, budgeting and estimation is essential.

  • French is highly advantageous.

  • Proven experience with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (EAM or similar)

  • Microsoft Office Suite of Products - Word, Project, Excel, Power Point & Access, with Ms Projects and Excel at expert level.
