CA Pay Range (Annual): $161,000.00 - $299,000.00

At Infinera, your base pay is one part of your total compensation package. Your actual base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. This role may be eligible for equity grants, discretionary bonuses, or commission payments. The amount of these incentives is based on the terms of the Company's incentive plans, the Company's financial performance, and/or individual employee job performance.

Principal Mechanical Engineer (M)

Accomplish mechanical design of assigned projects. Projects will include development of production products, research into new technologies, sustaining engineering on existing products, and engineering related to other mechanical activities within the company. Also, ability to manage and guide staff mechanical engineers.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work from product concept to production with minimal supervision.
  • Contribute to the definition of product features considering mechanical/electrical/thermal tradeoffs, customer needs and company goals.
  • Research, define, design, and test parts to implement these features.
  • Create products using sound technical judgment in all areas.
  • Complete tasks with minimal redesign, paying close attention to detail.
  • Conduct analysis of tolerance, stress, and thermal parameters as required.
  • Create and/or have created prototypes of the mechanical parts.
  • Manage Mechanical engineering team as far as coaching, design review, and providing development goals.
  • Work with Manufacturing, Purchasing and suppliers directly to establish sources for all parts and assemblies.
  • Complete mechanical DVT on new and existing projects as well as help others when needed.
  • Create high quality documentation for all parts and assemblies.
  • Follow through and energetically support introduction of new designs to production.
  • Organize the efforts and enlist the support of the other related areas of the company and outside services.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • BSME, MSME preferred.
  • Good working knowledge of CREO tool is a must.
  • Experience with tolerance analyses, shock and vibration testing, and thermal parameters.
  • Minimum of 10 years' experience in design of internal and external fiber management, injection molded plastics, sheet metal, card cages and electromechanical assemblies.
  • Experience in thermal design of high powered densely packed circuit packs is a plus.
  • Design emphasis on fiber management, fiber routing.
  • Thermal modeling experience and knowledge using Flo-Therm is considered a plus.
  • Expertise in acoustic attenuation a plus.
  • Expertise in strength of materials and materials selection a plus.
  • Experience in the design of telecom networking products required.
  • Familiarity with NEBS, ETSI, ANSI requirements required.
  • Ability to work independently and across multiple time zones is required.

The current processing time for an export control license is approximately 4 to 6 months.
