Job Title: Principal Electrical Engineer - Water & Wastewater Facilities
Location: Salt Lake City, UT
Employment Type: Full-Time
Salary Range: $140,000 - $200,000

About the Role:

We are seeking a Principal Electrical Engineer to lead the design and development of electrical systems for water and wastewater facility projects. Based in Salt Lake City, this position offers the opportunity to take ownership of complex projects, mentor a team of engineers, and collaborate across multiple disciplines.

This is a strategic role ideal for a technically sound and forward-thinking professional who thrives in fast-paced, impactful infrastructure environments. Your expertise will directly support essential public services and help drive the success of our growing engineering practice.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead electrical design efforts for municipal and industrial water/wastewater infrastructure.

  • Develop medium and low voltage power distribution systems, motor controls, VFDs, lighting, and equipment layout designs.

  • Ensure all designs comply with NEC and relevant codes/standards.

  • Manage, mentor, and review the work of junior and mid-level engineers.

  • Coordinate with civil, structural, mechanical, and process engineering teams.

  • Perform field visits for assessments, construction inspections, and system commissioning.

  • Support project proposal development, scope definition, and client communications.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.

  • 10+ years of experience in industrial electrical engineering and design.

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required; ability to obtain multi-state licensure preferred.

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, SKM and/or ETAP.

  • Working knowledge of Revit and BIM workflows.

  • Strong technical writing and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with instrumentation and control systems (PLCs, field instruments, HMIs).

  • Previous work within the water and wastewater sector.

  • Familiarity with construction documentation and QA/QC processes.

  • Experience leading interdisciplinary engineering teams.
