Job Description:

We're Hiring: Senior Mechanical Engineer - Join Our Fast-Growing Team!

Are you ready to contribute to the success of a dynamic company and take on exciting challenges?

Planiform, a leader in automated conveyor systems, is looking for a full-time Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our Terrebonne, QC team!

For over 50 years, Planiform has been a leader in designing, manufacturing, and installing automated conveyor systems for distribution centers and retail stores. Our solutions, including the HIVE and Carousel Pick Module (CPM), help optimize operations and improve efficiency for customers across the globe.

This position is intended for creative and passionate engineers who are eager to take on technical challenges in mechanical design.

Ideal for those who are fascinated by the creation and implementation of innovative mechanical components, this role emphasizes the technical side of mechanical engineering rather than management. We are seeking candidates driven by a passion for excellence in the design and development of complex mechanical systems, ready to contribute to our ambition of remaining the global leader in automated handling of garments on hangers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Work closely with project managers and members of the technical team (automation, mechanical, software, electrical) to develop a cutting-edge robotic system designed to automate the storage of garments on hangers for global e-commerce platforms.
  • Technical Development: Actively participate in the technical design process, including modeling and hands-on testing in the company's lab. The goal is to finalize a market-ready system.
  • Complete Mechanical Design: Design full mechanical tasks, including the creation of 3D and 2D drawings, generation of Bills of Materials (BOM), and production follow-up to ensure alignment with quality and project timeline objectives.
  • Modeling and Assembly: Model and/or assemble mechanical components using CAD software to develop and optimize technical solutions tailored to the specific needs of automated systems.
  • Collaborative Innovation: Actively take part in all brainstorming sessions for the project, contributing to idea generation and solving mechanical challenges.
  • Validation and Testing: Participate in factory acceptance tests (FAT) and site acceptance tests (SAT) scheduled at the first customer site to ensure the mechanical components meet performance and compliance standards.
  • Commissioning and Support: Assist in system commissioning and provide ongoing technical support, serving as a key resource for optimal operation and system improvement.
  • Continuous Improvement: Once the initial system is operational, contribute to the continuous improvement of mechanical components to support the company's goal of maintaining global leadership.
  • Versatility and Adaptation: Take on various related tasks to support the progress of assigned projects, adapting strategies and techniques as needed to meet team objectives.
  • Travel Availability: Must be available to travel to the USA and Europe for periods of up to 3 weeks.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • years of experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment
  • Proficient in English (to communicate with suppliers and clients in the USA)
  • Advanced knowledge of technical drawing

Preferred Skills and Attributes:
