Job Description:

A leading multidisciplinary engineering firm is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer (PE) to join its New York City office. This role is ideal for a licensed professional with a strong background in mechanical systems design and a passion for delivering innovative solutions on complex infrastructure projects.

This firm is known for its work on aviation terminals, rail and transit hubs, educational campuses, and public safety facilities, with a focus on integrating smart technologies and sustainable design principles.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the mechanical design ofHVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems for large-scale infrastructure projects, including:
    • Airport terminals and support facilities
    • Rail and transit stations
    • Higher education and K-12 buildings
    • Public safety and emergency response centers
  • Prepare construction documents, specifications, and technical reports.
  • Perform system calculations, equipment selection, and energy modeling.
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams including electrical, structural, and architectural disciplines.
  • Conduct site visits, field surveys, and construction administration tasks including submittal reviews and RFIs.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to quality assurance and quality control processes.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and client requirements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering; Master's degree preferred.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in New York (or ability to obtain).
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in mechanical engineering design, with a focus on building systems.
  • Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, and energy modeling tools.
  • Strong knowledge of NYC building codes, ASHRAE standards, and LEED guidelines.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and project management skills.
