Senior Mechanical Engineer - Baltimore, MD
Location: Baltimore, MD (Hybrid - 3 days/week in office)
Salary: $110,000-$155,000 + Benefits
Travel: 10%-20% (local and occasional out-of-state travel)
Employment Type: Full-time

A leading engineering and professional services firm is seeking a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Engineer to join their Baltimore-based team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineer to lead HVAC system design for new construction and renovation projects across a variety of sectors, including federal, healthcare, higher education, and science and technology.

Role Overview:

The Senior Mechanical Engineer will provide technical leadership in the design and documentation of mechanical systems. This role involves client engagement, project management, and mentoring junior engineers, with a focus on delivering high-quality, code-compliant solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design HVAC systems for new and existing facilities.
  • Conduct load and energy calculations using tools such as Trace 700/3D or IES.
  • Perform site surveys and document existing mechanical systems.
  • Develop system design calculations and equipment selections.
  • Prepare construction drawings, specifications, and technical reports.
  • Ensure code compliance and perform QA/QC reviews.
  • Lead project teams and serve as the primary client contact.
  • Support business development and client relationship efforts.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • Minimum of 10 years of mechanical design experience.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and Microsoft Office.
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, codes, and design standards.
  • U.S. Citizenship required; ability to obtain or maintain a Secret Security Clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • At least 2 years of project management experience.
  • Experience with federal, healthcare, or institutional projects.
  • LEED experience or certification.
  • Certified Energy Manager (CEM) designation is a plus.
