Applied Materials, Inc. is seeking a Process Engineer Req in Santa Clara, CA to: Design, collect data, analyze and compile reports on moderately difficult process engineering experiments, within safety guidelines Perform hardware characterization on moderately difficult systems, within safety guidelines. Troubleshoot moderately complex problems, perform Root Cause Analysis and resolve moderately difficult process engineering issues. Measure film properties, organize data/reports for review and interpret data. Generate internal documentation for products, presentations and technical reports. Interact with customers to resolve moderately difficult process engineering issues/problems under general supervision. Identify, select and work with vendors and suppliers under general supervision. Implement new technology, products and analytical instrumentation. Requirements: Masters degree or foreign equivalent degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or a related field and two (2) years of industry experience in the position offered or related capacity(ies). Demonstrate knowledge and/or experience in each of the following: 1. Etch tools: TEM, Laser Microscope, to understand the high volume production failures, like process shift and particle buildup; 2. ICPMS, and TXRF to analyze the process risk on etch chamber parts and drive solutions to meet part lifetime spec; 3. Troubleshoot customer production issues with data analysis using JMP Matchworks, and etch tool specific SW; 4. Etch chamber particle generation mechanism, particle source and solutions plan to remove particles; 5. Ability to develop prototype test to represent customer HVM environment and stress the test condition to expediate failures for solution proposal; 6. Ability to drive customers to qualify CIPs, align on qualification timeline, spec and success criteria; and 7. Ability to collaborate with multifunctional teams to develop new hardware to improve the etch chamber performance and lower running cost.
