Job Summary:
The Mechanical Engineer is a technical resource and responsible for supporting all aspects of plant operations in order to safely produce the highest quality direct reduced iron (DRI) at the lowest cost.

Basic Job Functions:
â Provides technical leadership, focusing on mechanical reliability & proactive & predictive maintenance for plant equipment
â Schedule resources & plan activities to improve equipment reliability
â Be a change agent, inspire discipline, efficiency, & accountability to the maintenance workforce in the execution of day-to-day
activities
â Perform appropriate root cause analysis on chronic equipment failures & implement corrective action plans to prevent
reoccurrence of similar issues
â Interface with Operations, Maintenance, & Inspection teams to understand, define, & prioritize harmful actor improvement
initiatives
â Serve as area mechanical focal point for capital project support
â Support Turnarounds & unit outages, including coordinating MOCs & supporting execution. Assist in developing yearly
maintenance budget & program spending plans
â Perform independent mechanical MOC evaluations
â Develop a strategic approach for Inspection Management systems & plans
â Support proper review, evaluation, & reporting of inspection findings for Fitness for Service, Deficiency Management, & Repair

â Conduct training in equipment operations & work/safety procedures, including using control points, equipment, resources, &
compliance with Nucor policies/procedures & environmental regulations
â Manage CM program to ensure equipment reliability, supporting the operation & maintenance Team
â Review assets integrity program & plan the inspection & repairs during the turnover
Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Minimum Qualifications:
â Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
â At least 3 - 5 years of relevant chemical plant work experience
â Microsoft Office Suite experience, Microsoft Projects.
â Experience with RCFA, RCM, modern reliability engineering methodologies, Predictive Maintenance technologies, maintenance
work processes, and TPM.
â Familiar with computerized enterprise asset management programs.
â PM maintenance management module including experience operating, generation of new PMs, and optimization of existing
PMs.
â Enjoy problem solving, organizational & communication skills (written & oral). Able to collect and interpret computerized and
hand-logged information.
â Interpersonal skills: able to work well with people at all levels in the organization and, at times working alone to evaluate complex
engineering analysis.
â Experience in continuous operating chemical manufacturing or manufacturing facility is preferred.
â Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Access, Excel, and PowerPoint required.
â A "self-starter" who can recommend correct courses of action to all levels of management and takes self-initiative to initiate
actions.
â Trained in continuous improvement methods such as manufacturing excellence and/or six sigma.

Preferred Qualifications:
â Understanding of DRI fundamentals or experience in DRI production, handling, or use.
