The Sensor Command, Control, Computers, Communications, Cyber (SC5) Department is seeking an experienced Principal level electrical engineer in the development and implementation of FPGA based designs for control and/or signal processing radar applications. The individual will be required to provide development support throughout product lifecycle, from initial concept to acceptance delivery to maintenance.

You will work as part of a highly motivated team environment and will collaborate with cross-functional project teams making up a larger program or internal research and development efforts. Our engineers are assigned to a manager of approximately 20 employees with similar skills. Each section manager is responsible for their members' performance, career development and assigning tasks that balance the employees' interests with current needs of the project teams.

This position can be for the Tewksbury, MA location or the Marlborough, MA location.

Responsibilities to Anticipate:

Owning or contributing to the successful completion of FPGA-based designs, on time and on budget

Working with a team to determine the technical approach or solution to meet system level requirements

Translate system level requirements into FPGA requirements

Design and code in VHDL for reliability and maintainability

Create complete documentation including requirements, verification plan, and user's guides

Support internal and external technical reviews

Qualifications You Must Have:

Typically requires a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent discipline

Minimum of 8 years of professional experience designing FPGAs using VHDL/Verilog (An advanced degree in a related field may be substituted for two additional years of experience)

Demonstrated experience with digital design and VHDL or Verilog coding

Experience designing and integrating with AMD/Xilinx, Intel/Altera or Actel/Microsemi/Microchip FPGAs

Experience using synthesis tools: Synplify, Xilinx Vivado, or Intel Quartus Pro

Experience and knowledge developing requirements for FPGA products

Experience with Timing Closure and utilizing Chipscope / Signal Tap

Mentoring of junior engineers

U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position will need a U.S. DOD Security Clearance within 1 year of start date.

Qualifications We Value:

12+ years of professional experience designing FPGAs using VHDL/Verilog

Experience using RTL simulation tools such as Questasim

Experience in AMD/Xilinx MPSOC, RFSOC, Ultrascale+, Versal

Experience in Intel programmable devices Stratix X, Agilex

Experience with high-speed interfaces such as GbE, SRIO, Aurora

Working knowledge in common computer hardware interface and data protocols such as RS-422, USB, PCIe, etc.

Experience with RADAR system hardware

Understanding of computer architecture and computer hardware optimization techniques

Proficiency in Linux

Working knowledge of C/C++ and/or in computer scripting language such as Shell/Perl/Python a plus

Working knowledge/course work of signal & image processing, digital communications and/or control theories

Interest and capability in task and team leadership, including leading teams of 2 to 5 engineers on a common task or group of tasks; managing to a schedule and budget; keeping internal customers advised of status and participating in strategic decisions on planning and execution; estimating and planning new work; a desire to advance along a team leadership track

The salary range for this role is 96,000 USD - 200,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company's performance.

This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
