The Mechanical Engineer Workgroup Lead will design and test all aspects of mechanical equipment and machinery. This position serves as a lead for the mechanical engineering group.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

• Prepare and coordinate detailed design of projects in compliance with governing codes, regulatory requirements, and Client standards

• Understand and be able to coordinate project cost, estimating, scoping and scheduling development and administration.

• Supervise and coordinate other engineers

• Solve problems by using a combination of standard procedures, modification of standard procedures, or methods developed in previous assignments

• Complete independent studies, analyses, interpretations. and conclusions

• Give technical guidance and mentor engineers

• Able to work without supervision and review of work for technical accuracy

• Able to be given an opportunity and can then define the scope of work to accomplish

• Coordinate and assign project work with other disciplines to meet client's safety, cost, quality, schedule, technical and operability objectives

• Work closely with program lead to monitor project performance metrics in order to ensure scope, schedule and budget are meeting expectations.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES

• Proficiency with computerized project management and reporting tools - required

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced work environment with multiple priorities and deadlines

• Supervisory Experience - required

• Experience developing and approving pipe specifications.

• Experience in design, specification, application, and modification of rotating and fixed equipment, such as:

Pressure vessels

Heat exchangers

Pumps

Compressors

Turbines

• Experience in:

Equipment drawing review and approval

P&ID development and review

Material selection

Piping layout

Pipe Stress Analysis.

• Excellent working knowledge of ASME pressure vessel and piping codes, API standards, and other industry standards.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

• Understanding of inter-discipline requirements

• Strong organizational skills.

• Strong understanding of consultant engineering workflow and project execution.

• Strong computer skills - Microsoft Applications (Word/Excel) and engineering software programs, such as CAESAR II, COMPRESS, and FEA programs.

• Capable of some travel and remote site assignments.

• Applicants must be able to obtain a TWIC card.
