The Opportunity:

At WSP, we're continuing to grow and develop our expertise in Earth and Environment, operating as a trusted advisor and technical expert for engineering and environmental projects for our clients across multiple industries. Our team is growing, and as a result we're adding a Senior Geophysicist to our group. As part of the team in Prairies and North, you'll be responsible for driving forward our ambitious plans to enhance our Earth and Environment service offering in the province or territory through your work with a close-knit team of engineering specialists, professionals, and technical staff.

A day in the life:

  • You'll be the technical lead for a wide range of geophysical projects
  • You'll have direct client interactions and will be involved in proposal writing and business development
  • You'll be responsible for directing and leading geophysical surveys and investigations
  • You'll oversee field data collection as required
  • You'll oversee and review data processing and interpretation
  • You'll write or oversee/review the preparation of reports and presentations
  • You'll mentor junior staff
  • You'll participate as a Senior Leader in Business Unit level strategy meetings and initiatives
  • You'll demonstrate a "Safety First" focus and act as a role model to other staff

We'd love to hear from you if you have

  • A university degree in Geophysics, Earth Sciences, Geological Engineering or related discipline majoring in Geophysics.
  • 10+ years of relevant work experience in the consulting industry
  • P.Geo. registration with APEGA or P.Geo. eligibility
  • Experience with most geophysical methods (seismic refraction/reflection, MASW, Electrical Resistivity Imaging, Magnetics, Ground Penetrating Radar, Electromagnetics and Microgravity methods on land, in boreholes and over water)
  • Experience with near-surface geophysics for engineering and environmental applications in various settings, including oil and gas sites, contaminated sites, infrastructure projects and mines
  • A focus on technical excellence
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills
