Job Details:
Location: Columbus, OH
Hours: 40 Hours Per Weekâ Some OT may be required.
Travel: 10% - 20%/per year
Pay Range: 110,000/year - 140,000/year + Potential Bonus
Duration: Direct Hire

As a Senior Mechanical Engineer III at Client, tasks may include, but will not be limited to station engineering and design including design criteria, material selection, and equipment sizing and selection in compliance with codes and standards. You will work closely with client project teams to determine work scope requirements, monitor and control project costs, and pro-actively resolve variances from project plans. This role assists regions project execution and tracking, and personnel development.

This position may require occasional travel depending on project and client needs.

  • Provides technical leadership guidance.
Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Technical
    • Scope Development - involves themselves in any needed project as it moves through the scope development phase to assist in ensuring project is resourced correctly, that all parties are communicating effectively, and that the scope is well understood and clear to the project team members.
    • Drive technical expertise on supported projects.
    • Collaborates with senior management to ensure project-related issues are addressed.
    • Ensures most up to date client standards are utilized in project execution.
    • Promotes use of standards and codes by younger engineers.
  • Training and Development
    • Help support less experienced station engineering team members in the development of technical knowledge and experience.
    • Assist senior leadership in development of engineering training and employee development.
    • Assists Regional Director in hiring and resourcing needs.
  • Process
    • Supports the implementation of new processes, technologies, and systems and use of resources and materials.
    • Assists in calculator generation and vetting.
  • Business Development
    • Assist in development of proposals, cost estimates, and staffing requirements for projects.
    • Assists in proposal generation and oversight within region.
    • Help Regional Director build and grow business opportunities by supporting and maintaining existing client relationships.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Demonstrates project engineering management skills
  • Excellent English verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong technical, supervisory, motivational and leadership skills.
  • Extensive knowledge of the principles, procedures, and best practices in the industry and of engineering.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering from ABET accredited college preferred
  • Leadership or management experience preferred
  • 8-12+ years of applicable experience
    • or 5+ years of experience with PE certification
  • FE and PE preferred (or qualified to take PE exam)
  • Preferred to have experience with some or all the following:
    • natural gas and oil systems
    • transmission and distribution station design
    • gas measurement, regulation, control, and material/equipment sizing/selection in the application of:
      • custody transfer / city gate stations
      • district regulator stations
      • valve automation
    • engineering project coordination in station design
    • lead field engineering efforts or on-site meetings with clients and other stakeholders
    • station construction and commissioning
