The Mechanical Engineering Department leads mechanical hardware design, development and production of radar, sonar, torpedo, communication, and combat system equipment. ME s Sensors Interconnects Section within the Tactical Radars and Effectors (TRE) Department provides engineering to the design, construction and integration of various interconnections and wiring disciplines.

The TRE Department is seeking an engineering candidate for a Senior Engineer position to work within the Sensors Interconnects Section.

This position is in Marlborough, MA. (Hybrid role)

The Sensors Interconnects Section performs complex Interconnect solutions for above and below sea combatant platforms, mobile and stationary ground platforms, missile, manned/unmanned programs across all platforms and onsite support. Engineers will perform research, design, support to build and development of military and commercial interconnections for all these platforms. This will include control, fiber optic, high power, high voltage, radio frequency, and waterproof.

Responsibilities to Anticipate:
  • Use mechanical and electrical flow down to design and route cables using CREO to verify cable path, volume capture, lengths, and interfaces.
  • Use mechanical and electrical information to develop interconnections sketches, diagrams, and other engineering information to generate conceptual designs and drawings in tools such as CREO, AutoCAD, and Windchill.
  • Work with limited supervision and meet commitments for assigned schedule, financial, and technical goals.
  • Represent the Mechanical Engineering organization as the prime technical contact for cable & harness interconnect design.
  • Interact with high level representatives on significant technical matters requiring coordination between organizations and suppliers.
Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field
  • 5 years of experience in Interconnects design
  • Experience with CREO - CAD design tool
  • Experience with manufacturing within interconnect domain, including interconnect manufacturing and/or field troubleshooting.
  • Experience with component military specifications, standards, test specifications, QPLs and QMLs associated with connectors, coaxial cables, multi-conductor cables, interconnection cable & wire and/or fiber-optic cables.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Working knowledge of Military and Commercial codes and standards for cabling and interconnects design.
  • Previous experience including concept definition through detailed design and transition to manufacturing.
  • Collaborate in a team environment whether in office or working from home.
  • Willingness for minimal travel (domestic and international)
  • Excellent communication, technical writing, presentation, and interpersonal skills
  • Advanced problem-solving skills.
  • Experience using AutoCAD design tools to include CREO and CREO Schematic
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word/Excel/Power Point/Project)
  • Previous experience includes adaptability and willingness to work varying assignments.
  • Proven ability to lead technical solutions to complex user requirements.
  • Advanced degree in mechanical engineering

  • Onsite : Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance employees, as they are essential to the development of our products.
  • Hybrid : Employees who are working in Hybrid roles will work regularly both onsite and offsite. Ratio of time working onsite will be determined in partnership with your leader.
  • Remote : Employees who are working in Remote roles will work primarily offsite (from home). An employee may be expected to travel to the site location as needed.

The salary range for this role is 77,000 USD - 163,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company's performance.
