Our Connected Aviation Solutions (CAS) group has an exciting career-growth opportunity for an Senior Electrical Engineer to join our Hardware and Infrastructure (HW&I) Engineering team. This is an opportunity to join a team supporting the next generation Air Traffic Control (ATC) systems, as well as providing support to existing fielded systems. We are seeking a senior electrical engineer with experience in power electronic circuits, comfortable working with commercial off-the-shelf and custom hardware designs to achieve system requirements. This opportunity requires a combination of classic design techniques, modern power electronics knowledge, and hands on laboratory skills.

What YOU will do:
  • Identifying potential power supply candidates, conducting a trade study with potential devices, and choosing the device that meets the requirements.
  • Perform preliminary and detailed design activities.
  • Experience in the design and development of power system hardware including power converters, power conditioners, or power distribution systems.
  • Conduct testing activities in the lab in support of Engineering Change Proposals. Testing includes inrush, harmonics, and power factor characterization.
  • Experience writing detailed verification test plans and test reports.
  • Interface with other disciplines (Configuration Management, Software Engineering, Systems Engineering, Supply Chain) in support of product development.
Education & Experience:
  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience.
Qualifications you must have:
  • Minimum 5 years' experience designing, evaluating, and testing power supplies.
  • Prior experience collaborating and teaming with other engineering disciplines, supply chain, suppliers, field engineering, and customers.
  • Experience completing technical documentation relating to Configuration Control, Change Management, Trade Studies, Preliminary and Detailed Design artifacts and presentations.
  • Experience with PCB/PWB design.
  • Experience working with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Visio, and PowerPoint)
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.
Skills we value:

The salary range for this role is 77,000 USD - 163,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
